May be painful to admit, but probably yes.

So somewhere in an alternative universe, there is a Charlton Athletic still in the Prem, with a double tiered south and east stand, 45,000 per week, Diego Poyet signing a new 4 year contract, a happy Darren Bent on the plane to Brazil, all lead by Captain Courageous Souleymane Diawara.

    If pardew kept us in the prem, he would have had all the time and appreciation to internally destroy the soul of the club.

    Rather quick pain then a slow painful death.

    Don't get the Pardew hate on CL.
    However it would have been tough for anybody after doughnut Dowie.

    dont think we can blame him for the relegation but we can blame him for the 2 seasons after that ...infact i get the impression that he lost interest when andy reid left

    In a nutshell (for me anyway) the problem with Pardew was that everything was someone else's fault when he was manager.

    Compare and contrast with the Curbishley / Powell attitude of I'm the manager if it goes wrong the buck stops here we've just got to get on with it even when they had legitimate cause for complaint.

    What would Curbishley or Powell have done with the money Pardew spunked on the likes of Martin Christensen etc, etc I wonder?
