I'd love Riga to carry on. The chemistry just seems right. Surely RD will see that as well.

    Agree
  • Riga has no doubt earnt himself a nice juicy bonus. He is now in a very strong position to negotiate a lucrative contract. Good on him, I hope RD is prepared to fork out for his services. If he doesn't I fear that another club will.

I think Katrien will be very aware of just what a different team and club we are now as opposed to when she arrived. No slight on SCP. I just think the change burst the stress bubble the whole club was surrounded by. I'm sure she will be saying something similar to RD.

Such a good day, only came from manchester but so glad i did! Nice to see the team come over and applaud the fans! On route home, still singing on the train to many peoples annoyance but oh well. Note to self, must get to more games next season as every game I've been to we've won with a cleen sheet.

    COYR!

    Strange game.

Blackpool very much on front foot in first half and looked more likely without testing Hamer too much.

Dervite was great while Morro got caught a few times.

Harriot was set up three times by sordell, Obika and finally Pigott and took all three very calmly.

No pressure on us once we scored, we relaxed and dominated.

    Blackpool were poor though.

MOTM has to go to that "total waste of space, talentless pub footballer" who got a hat trick but Dervite and Poyet deserve a lot of credit. Petrucci's best game for us imho.

Best fancy dress was the two Jose "he's only got one suit" Riga. The real Riga shook their hands and had photos taken with them when he got off the coach.

Players and coaching staff showed their appreciation. A few will be off so thanks to them.

We finished last season in similar strong fashion and didn't build on it. Really hope we don't repeat that mistake.

Had far too much to drink last night but off to the Casino soon.

Live, love, laugh and be happy.

I suspect that Riga's comments are ambiguous simply because there is a negotiation going to take place. I would be surprised if he wasn't offered a contract extension but he might want some assurances about transfer policy, budgets and autonomy as part of any deal.

It might be that Riga wants to be a manager and not a Head Coach.

    ;o)

RD, sign this bloke up as part of the coaching staff a bit sharpish.

  • What a fantastic day. Only up from Sheffield, but stayed over last night to make it more of an occasion. When i ordered my tickets i didn't know we were going to be safe and was nervous of how important the result might be. As it ended up it was immaterial, but still it's so great to see the season end on an absolute high with a party atmosphere (and i don't mean to fraternity of hen do's staying in our hotel). The first 10-15 mins were quite backs to the wall but we weathered the storm and rode our luck until the Boy Wonder did his party piece. To have seen a hat-trick two games is just amazing and not something i'll forget. The season has had it's lows and it's blows, but we've come through it together and as a club, we dust ourselves down and go again next season still in the Championship. New faces are necessary and that may be exciting, but who goes is a question many will be pondering. Have some played themselves into a new contract, RD will decide, no matter what anyone else thinks.

Thanks to all the playing staff, the coaches, and rest of the backroom staff and not forgetting our chosen one who is waiting in the wings for a return some day with a beaming smile to great us, that will reflect our own.

Mr Riga is welcome back for another year if he chooses, but I assume he will be moved/replaced over the coming weeks. He genuinely looked as though he was wallowing in the warmth of feeling from the fans as we sang his name as the players took the fans applause after the game.

Lastly a big thanks to all the contributors on CharltonLife. We disagree on so must but always agree on one thing. Charlton is our club that we love dearly and will miss over the next three months. Some may have a brief love affair over coming months with the national team, but most will be left waiting and wanting for August to come round for the next fix of the drug that is Charlton Athletic.

    Cheers.

When was the last time one of ours got five league goals in five days?

So glad I didn't miss that. When I think back to Donny away there has been one hell of an improvement. Poyet, for my money, is already better than either Bowyer or Shelvey ever was for us.

First half was awful from both teams and sordell was rubbish....second half we came out and passed the ball about and got stuck into them...worthy winners in the end....well done to all those in fancy dress....loads of Ben Hamer look alikes.
