Don't agree with the majority of these points tbh.

Anyone who thinks Wilson wasn't shite for a large part of last season needs to see a specialist

I'm sorry but IMO once he started playing regularly he became a solid part of our team, def the best right wing option and a good back up to solly... IMO

Last season he was shite though.
This season player of the year for me but last year he was very shakey, and constantly making mistakes. Completley different player this year.
How old is Wilson by the way?

Wilson had a few average games when he started last season ( his crosses in particular ) but I never thought he was shite. Danny green is the better crosser of the ball but he isn't fit to lace Wilson's boots.

Sorry didn't realise you were talking about last year- agree that he wasn't good then, it's only been since he's been playing regularly

Wilson's never been shite and that song is an embarrassment.

Great read that blog post. Spot on with the opening words.

He was terrible at right back when he first joined but he's come on leaps and bounds.

    Really hate the song though

Wilson had a shaky start but I saw him at right back against Blackpool away where he was excellent in handling both Phillips and Ince.

From then on I don't think he did much wrong at all.

So has anyone got a number for a specialist?

    Oh god i can't resist...

If any of you actually watch Lawrie Wilson properly you would not be saying how wonderful he is.

He makes more elementary mistakes than any other player on the pitch every game. Too many mis controls, misplaced passes, letting runners go, not getting in line. his first touch is dreadful. he never wants the ball. every time Hamer has it he points to the other side of the pitch. every time morro/dervite has it...he points to the other side of the pitch. he also plays way too many hospital balls into the midfield on the rare occasion he does play the ball forwards. His crosses to be fair to him are the best part of his game and he does put in some beauts but he only actually gets into the position to do it every other game or so as his tactical awareness and reading of the game is not up to scratch.

he also runs backwards a hell of alot without ever making a challenge, i think it's fear of mucking up. since february every single game i saw with him in, the opponents were singling him out. opposition teams were going at him and attacking on his side of the pitch as they realised he is our weak link. he also loves berating people, and fixing his hair.

I know you're all going to have a fit about this but it's the truth!

He really reminds me of a RB version of church. yes he tries but he just does not have the talent required to be a championship right back/right winger. The reason we released him is because he is a league one player and i am pretty sure that is where he'll end up alongside churchy

if you look at the player marks stats for this season as voted by the fans at the games....Wilson has not even made the top ten

</This difference in players marks always fascinates me and makes me wonder if we're all matching the same match. I suspect you might have the minority view here!

The terrible at right back attitude regards to Wilson are probably because he followed up a very much in form and fan favourite in chris solly.

Wilson might have been below par but tbh I really can't remember that far back.

Wilson was never shite, he was just a right midfielder trying to fill the boots of one of the most talented and popular young fullbacks to come out of the academy for a very long time. Is he a brilliant rightback? Nope. But he has improved considerably in that position and remains for me by far the most dangerous wide midfielder at the club (yes including Harriott.)

With Solly injured, he has played a key role. I couldn't decide between him and Morro - but went for him in the end. I recon POTY will be 1) Poyet, 2) Morrison and 3) Wilson

PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Well done @Lawrie_Wilson. Another player fully deserving of recognition this season.

Seems the players know a little more than some on here.

    Wasn't particularly aimed at you.

Thought last season when he first came in at right back he was shaky, but then moved to right mid when Solly came back and was a lot better.

He is a better right midfielder than right back. However, after suffering from the effects of Charlton fan syndrome ie being berated early in his career with us for every small error made, he has come on fantastically.

If Wiggins is playing at left back then yes, he is the weaker link but that doesn't mean he is terrible.

Remember he came to us from Stevenage where he played as an attacking central midfielder or right mid.

Similar to when Cousins has been pushed wide right or when Jackson plays on the left, performances may be less effective. A 'utility' player is in a no win situation when shifted away from their best position.

Instead of criticising such players for this we should be recognising their ability to do a job for the team ahead of personal preference.
