Thought this might be of interest to some. No doubt it will sink quickly if not!!
Yesterday's FA Cup Final programme included a feature entitled "Top 20 FA Cup Final Goals". The goals were selected from a total of 376, according to the article.
Chris Duffy's winner against Burnley was placed 7th, just behind Ricky Villa's memorable strike against Manchester City in 1981. The comment was as follows,
"Described as a "cannonball" by British Pathe commentary, Duffy's volley made it second-time lucky for Charlton, who had lost the previous Final 4-1. A tricky left-winger known more for his creativity than goals, the Scotsman settled matters six minutes from the end of extra-time."
Duffy's goal was the oldest included, followed by Jackie Milburn (1951) and Bill Perry (1953).

Fourth Wembley visit in 5 years. Oh those were the days.0

Can't help but notice that the standard of top football in those days was putting it politely absolute rubbish.0

Great stuff, my old man and my uncle couldn't get tickets for that for love nor money despite having witnessed the heavy defeat in extra time the year before v Derby and having followed them with their cousin all round the country that season on a motorbike and sidecar. No such thing as Valley Gold and all the other forms of ticket priority in those days. :-01
