Good luck to all those who have been released, Danny Green I thought perhaps never shone enough in the Championship, I remember seeing him in a game for Dagenham against Leyton Orient and thought he looked good. Shame he could never repeat that in a tougher league like the Championship. Good luck to the youth players who must be majorly gutted about not getting a new contract. Never saw either Bradley or Ade play but know they did well in the U21 team. However the Championship is a really strong league, much stronger than that I remember when I first began to watch CAFC in the 90's. But those days were Mortimer and Keith Jones and John Robinson.

Here is to hoping the future of CAFC is good. Dare I say it but Riga did an immense job in the circumstances and it appears he will not be back with us next year but perhaps that is for another thread.

Lastly amazing it is amazing of Leon to post a comment here on the forum to thank the fans. Proper professional to do so.

Good luck to all the other players released, I am sure you will all be able to find suitable clubs. The season is only just over but it seems clubs are moving very quickly for players whom have not had their contracts renewed.

All I and CAFC fans can hope for is that our manager / head coach situation is resolved soon so the club can move on.

Here is hoping next season I make it back on the big screen in the montage before the game but doubt it!

No chance James, you lost that claim to fame when Powell went out the door! Straight after the Di Canio chip wasn't it?

Shame about Azeez I think that one will potentially return to bite us

    Leon

Thanks for your efforts you IMO were the better defender of the CH we had at the club

Hopefully your fitness allows you to continue in football and you find your self a decent club and contract

All the best and good luck

Well my claim to fame was nice while it lasted. Being on the screen for a good 5 years is fine by me!

"That's really lovely, Corty. I sit in the North End and used to enjoy watching you defend from close quarters" - huh, Preston??

It pained me to name it thus, but "Covered End" must sound odd to those who weren't around before both ends were covered.

Some big names among that long list, possibly a result of FFP. Wasn't Julian Speroni Palarse's first-choice keeper last season? I know they have Wayne Hennessy as a capable replacement, but wonder why Speroni has been released.

They aren't all players that have been released. Some will have been offered new contracts, but they had to provide a list of out of contract players.

Speroni is a top class act. Can't imagine he'll be short of offers.

I'm delighted that both Dannys have been signed up quickly and I wish all the best to all those players who have been released. I hope they all get something sorted out sooner or later. Of the youngsters, I only really saw Ade a few times & I think he could well be a very good striker. Shame to lose him.

As for Leon Cort...I am really pleased he felt the affection he was held in. Like him, and many others who have posted already, that goal at Birmingham is a brilliant memory for me. I was always happy to see him in the team and it was great to see him get back on the pitch towards the end of the season. I felt he was our best centre half and it always filled me with confidence to see him in the team. All the best big man. You deserve it.

Oh...one more thing for Fanny...great post, but it certainly isn't just a female trait to support our club with a great deal of emotion. :-)

Not been on here to comment for a while...took a break....however having read various different threads about who the new manager will be and players released by us...and what RD will do next...all I can say is looking at that Prem League list there are some very good experienced pros on there that I wouldn't mind seeing at The Valley next season rather than some of the names being mentioned that RD wants to bring in from his other clubs......we need players used to the English game in my opinion, or at least know about it.......we need to get good replacements in....why not ex-prem players that can still cut it?

RD will probably not pay the wages they will want.

I genuinely would be surprised at this point if we sign anyone we've heard of/from the English leagues.

You could be right @ross1, but if he wants us to progress he will need experienced pros from our leagues, CP and JR decided not to play RD's overseas contingent in the main, they both saw it wouldn't work and decided to use players used to the physicality of the Championship......even AA, a good technical player couldn't last 90 mins!

Redmidland...is it just that you want good British names (say that in Al Murray's voice) to make it easier for you on your wonderful match threads???

The 2 I'm most sorry to see go are Pritchard & Cort. Despite limited ability, Pritch is one of those rare players who would give 100% every game. Sure, it wouldn't always come off for him, but couldn't ever knock his effort.

Cort is a very decent CB, think he could've done a job for another season. Just a pity he's spent the majority of this campaign in the treatment room, as I think he would have nailed a starting 11 shirt for us. Also had the pleasure of his company, sitting next to me at the POTY awards last year. Such a gent.

    Wish them all the best..............

Agree with this. Gave their all and shame things haven't worked out.

We're going to need more than 10 Reza type signings to fit your 'strength' ask..

Not as bad as some of the rubbish Roland Duchatelet has brought in and then tried to ensure they played games.

Been away for a few days - have we signed anyone yet? Or do we have no players left for a team for next season?

Relax. Everyone is chilled on here at the moment. Everyone is of the same opinion - no need to panic.

I just worry what players we,ll eventually get in as good players want decent money and as RD believes on players all getting similar wages, it could be a case of if u pay peanuts u get monkeys!!

I don't think RD is the kind if chairman that announces who he's keeping or releasing.
