How many league games have we been shown on Sky since our return to the Championship? Very few I'd guess. Are we being stitched up? I think a minor TV station could make good money from non-Prem football, Sky are under-selling the package.

    2 i think, palace at home in the first season back and millwall at home last season

    In the Championship we are seen as one of the small teams like Millwall, Barnsley, Yeovil etc and therefore get shown very little. Leeds are viewed as a 'big' club so probably get shown as much as any team regardless of whether they are in the league. I'm not sure how much clubs get in the Championship for a live game. I don't think it is a lot. I can't say I am too bothered we aren't on live much. We were a bigger team when in league 1 and was shown more. Sky were the only broadcasters in for live league football the last two occasions. I can't see that changing, I can't see any other TV station paying what Sky do.

    Here`s a link to the thread where I did an analysis of live games last year. It does not break down home and away games, £80`000 is paid to the home club, nothing to the away. I saw a breakdown the other day which did show income for each team and can tell you we made £80`000 compared with Leeds £400`000. That is without the extra income from sponsorship and ground advertising that obviously will be much higher for a team appearing a dozen times a season...

    Really? Do you think that more than 20k supporters would miss those 5 games? Thats 4000 per game less fans, assuming that charge about a score a ticket.

    Leeds average attendance 25'088

    Average attendance at 5 live TV games 22'320
    Average attendance at 18 non live TV games 25'858

    So 3538 less people turned up for live TV games, on average.

    I would say that they lose a bit as far as ticket sales go (assuming an average ticket price of £25), but factor in the extra 7 away games on which their shirt sponsor's logo was on show, as well as the five homes with all the ground advertising, I would say they come out pretty much on top. That's without other factors such as higher ticket prices for more attractive games. For info the games shown were:

    Sheff Weds
    QPR
    Birmingham
    Leicester
    Nottingham Forest

    So three of those were probably games where top dollar was charged for tickets.

    All season ticket holders are included in the attendance irrespective as to weather they turn up or not.

    Unless we have a substantial away attendance our matchday ticket receipts don't usually amount to £80k, so it would be hard for us to miss out financially. Previously the £80k fee was split between the clubs, so it was possible to argue a case when the Palace home game was televised in 2012/13.
