Fighting Poverty by scoring goals...with Simon Church

Apparently in 1957 Sam Bartram was playing so badly someone offered a goat if he could keep a clean sheet. This pic shows the goat tampering with the ball with the help of Jimmy Seed after a penalty was given at the Valley against Chelsea on Boxing Day.
The ball was so flat Sam fell on the spot kick and the goat was donated to a village in Ethiopia only to be eaten New Years Day. To this day the village kill and eat a goat on January 1st every year in memory of Big Sam.6 -
This is the goat I'm going to buy

this was the first ever use of the magic spray to mark where the free kick should be taken and where the wall should stand0 -
I really hope he doesn't read Charlton Life.0

If he does he better realize how many of us love goats . So get scoring those goals1

Easy chaps, his agent promised 30 goals last season and they rarely lie so I am guessing he was just a bit unlucky and will burst through to form this year.2

I'm in too, but they have to be for Charlton, not on loan or anything.2

            Also in0

Feed the goat and he will score0

If he scores 30, you can send me to Africa and they can milk me.15

Nice idea but I reckon you need to reverse the order of things. Simply spondor the goats to score goals, and if they do, put churchy out to plough on the farm. Everyone wins!0

The pressure you have now placed on him now is not fair but im backing him all the way.

As far as I'm aware he doesn't and probably won't know about it. I had tweeted him but decided to remove it, you never know if he did find out it might spur him on to bag a few more.scabbyhorse said:The pressure you have now placed on him now is not fair but im backing him all the way.

We'll know when he hammers one in against Brenford and launches into a goat-inspired celebration.JollyRobin said:

Not entirely sure what that would look like, but I expect we'll know it if we see it.2 -

The goats reaction upon hearing that his life depended on Simon Church scoring 20 goals in a season....................

Hi,
Would you be happy for us to do a news story on what you're doing? Would give it some good publicity and might encourage others into joining in. Think is a really nice idea.
Would be great if we could talk to you.
Thanks
Rich Cawley"

Ha Ha the jokes on you, Simon Church has signed for Charlton Under 9s girls team. Looks like you will be buying a share in that farmyard.JollyRobin said:So I've decided that based on the number of goals Simon Church scores next season I will donate a gift to a family living in poverty, I'm hardly a wealthy bloke in fact I'm still a student so the amounts are rather modest based on what I can actually afford, but I thought this would be fun and do some good.
5 goals - I'll buy a share in a farmyard worth £5 (http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/oxfam-unwrapped/animal-lovers/share-in-a-farmyard-ou8026ml)
10 goals - I'll buy chickens worth £10 (http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/oxfam-unwrapped/animal-lovers/chickens-ou8003ml)
20 goals - I'll buy a goat worth £25 (http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/oxfam-unwrapped/animal-lovers/goat-ou8010ml)
25 goals - I'll buy a goat couple worth £50 (http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/oxfam-unwrapped/animal-lovers/goat-couple-ou8011ml)
N.B. All League Cup, FA Cup and Championship goals (inc. Play-offs) are included.
You're all witnesses and you have my word on this. I'm not sure what the process of purchasing these things is, but when I do I'll post some proof at the end of season. Feel free to do the same, with Churchy or another player of your choice.
