Crying at Football

This has been the World Cup for crying - fans and players. Don't remember any tears when we went down under Lennie or since,
I don't remember fans crying when we lost the shootouts in Italia '90 (apart from Gazza) and Euro '96.

Crying just gives your rivals something to laugh at on You Tube. Bring back gallows humour!

I cried a couple of tears of joy in 98 and I don't mind admitting it.

QPR win at home this season was the closest I've been, didn't understand where it came from either until I got home and watched Powell in the dugout on the football league show. Still glad that i did the grown up thing and pretended I had bad contacts in

Well done that man. Save those tears for when we win the Champions League Final.

John Terry crying in 2008 is my favourite football crying by a mile. Fell on his arse then cried. Hilarious.

There is only one thing worse than crying and it's pointing to the sky or crossing the chest as if some god is going to help you win or is the reason why you scored a goal.
    Utter bollocks.

We are one of the few countries where men continue to be brought up in the mistaken belief that 'real men don't cry'. It's a ridiculous hangover from the stiff upper lip of the public schools in the the Victorian period. Men should be allowed to express their feelings as freely as women without fear of ridicule, it's one of the taboos that doesn't get tackled.

It's all part of the 'broadcasting football by numbers' rule book...as soon as the final whistle is blown - search for players & fans
for anyone crying - quickly edit a montage on the fly to create the illusion half the stadium in in tears..cut to long shot of stadium from the air and set your search engine of choice to flag for 'water cannon' 'tear gas' in the main cities of the defeated team.

Seeing SCP and Colin Powell hug it out on the pitch after the late emotional Jacko winner v QPR , i certainly blubbed up
When SCP scored that goal v Coventry I welled up , when SCP made his speechea after finishing Champions/9th two other occassions

If you haven't felt that raw emotion for that beautiful man then you've missed out I can assure you

    "Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love."
  • The amount of defeats we've seen at the valley in recent seasons, I'm surprised anyone's got any tears left.

Cried when we were first Relegated from the Premier League in 98-99 (Singing we'll be back just got to me)... Almost started crying out of happiness when we got promoted at Carlisle a few years ago

I cried that night against Tottenham, at Carlisle, I was emotional against QPR as my dog had just died. Alcohol may have provided the assists but I don't really care, emotion is part of what makes us human.

I cried when we got promoted from league one, floods of tears of joy. I cried against Sheffield Wednesday in May 99, also on promotions in 00 and 98, 98 was too emotional.
  • I cried losing on penalties to Swindon
  • I cry every time I see simon chuch run on to the pitch.

Messi has been awarded "Cry of the Tournament".
  • There are only two acceptable reasons for grown men to cry:

    1) Losing a close relative
    2) Being hit extremely hard in the bollocks

Yes that is ridiculous as even if God did supposedly help you then he's deliberately disadvantaged the rival goalkeeper

What if the rival Goalkeeper points to the sky as well before the match though... Who does God favour then?
