i would only add a song from one of my most played records of the past coupla years:

bill wells & aidan moffat - everythings getting older featuring that aching beauty, "the copper top" - not heard it? RUSH to you tube NOW!

Surprised to learn that Primal Scream are from Glasgow.

Anyone know what the Blue Nile may be up to? I know we generally have to wait 18 years between albums...

I can't argue with any of those bands Salad, though I might go for a few different tracks.

Primal Scream - probably Loaded or maybe Country Girl
Fratellis - Shameless (though no doubt Chelsea Dagger is more famous)
Strawberry Switchblade - Trees & Flowers
    Lloyd Cole - Lost Weekend
    Simple Minds - Glittering Prize
and for Belle & Sebastian it would absolutely have to be Stars of Track & Field for the Commonwealth Games.

Stone the Crows...... Maggie Bell, one of the UK's best ever singers, Jimmy Dewar who was in Robin Trower's band.......
The rest of the band were not too bad as well!

New Gold Dream - Simple Minds

Went to see them here at the end of Feb. Was really surprised how great it was. Talk about a career that goes full circle and then starts off on another round.

2009's "Graffiti Soul' album was a cracking return to form.

good calls Stig, I'm not big on Primal Scream tbh - my favourite is actually "I'm Losing More Than I Ever Had" which Weatherall subsequently transformed into Loaded

Penicillin Blues. Can still hear Maggie asking me (and nobody else of course) to insert my needle.

i was aware of the album, however, not convinced by his voice, seems theatrical/twee, and the songs seem a shade forced, sorreee, i know the album has a good following...whereas bill wells & aidan moffat are very real.
