Clive Harris of http://www.battle-honours.eu/ but better know on here as SG3toSE7 is taking a party of Academy players to Ypres and other first world war sites such as the Christmas Day football match, where Jimmy Seed was gassed and Sam Bartram's dad won a Military Medal as well as the Menin Gate at Wipers/Ypres.
Clive will be tweeting pics and updates @chathmuseum over the weekend so follow if you don't already.

Nice one Clive and co. This will be an amazing experience for the youngsters.0

A few pics from yesterday, the lads really engaged with the subject and were a credit to the club, some real characters among the group but the size and scale of the Great War had a real impact on them, we made a specoal focus on our own involvement as a club in the war and the group were amazed in the interest that the locals had in Charlton and wanted to talk about Bob Peeters to everyone!3

Nice one, Clive.
I'm sure you did a great job of telling the story but it's good that the players and coaches engaged so well and that the Club wanted to take the young players.
Hope it becomes a regular event.
The Bob Peeters story made me laugh.0 -
