Today Lassana Diarra moved to Portsmouth, having played for both Chelsea and Arsenal this season...

So surely that mean the rule in question of not playing for three clubs in one season has something to do with crossing borders?

    playing - i think yuo can use that term very loosely with regards to Faye.

    well lets use "appearing" then, I admit in hindsight, "playing" would have consisted of some ability, or indeed effort

    It's to do with moving from one country's football association to another.

    Somebody more knowledgable than me can explain the detail.
