  • Hamsters have new hot box to box guy, Kouyate so Diego will have to oust fans favourite but crap Nolan or rely on injury/suspension.

The fans don't like Nolan. Big Sam does though.

He's good mates with Joe Gomez, so came along to cheer him on in his league debut..............
  • Anybody who thinks he isn't going to establish himself in a mediocre west ham team clearly wasn't watching charlton last season...

Totally different players anyway, Nolan is a goal-scoring midfielder who was probably their top-scorer in the PL last season, he must have near enough 100 PL goals in his career.

Poyet has not scored a single goal in senior football and is more a defensive player, a deep-lying playmaker.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has revealed why he did not sign his son Diego Poyet this summer.

There was a family issue. I would love to coach him, but at the same time it would be unfair on him.

Shame he couldnt advise him to stay at Charlton where he'd play games instead of becoming a bench warmer!!

Give it a rest... he's a kid that we were lucky played for us once...he's moved on, so should you lot

Lucky he played for us?!?! The club bloody developed him for over 8 years and paid him handsomely for his age. He's not an established international..That is a joke of a statement.

I hope he does *alright* (not great) with West Ham but do not think he is good enough to start in the Premier League. He stood out in an incredibly poor Charlton side and the Premier League isn't really the league you want to take a risk and play your youngsters trying to get them experience.

Mind you, if we were to sneak into the playoffs and go up with West Ham coming down, I would have a massive grin on my face.

Actually, it's 179 minutes, Cousins was subbed in the 89th vs Brentford.

Unerring accuracy, I'm impressed. Looks like you've got the job for the season Exiled!
I accept the challenge, although I can't promise I won't get bored of this in a couple of weeks:

    Cousins: 333 mins
    Poyet: 0 mins

what about added time on each half?

68 in fact. Decent still in my opinion.

People need to get over Diego. He helped keep us up last season. He isn't the best player that ever left us. He is a West Ham player now. End of story.

I'm just hoping Big Sam made him take the coach from/to Chadwell Heath rather than letting him drive from/to Orpington.

    Vindictive, me?

Very average according to both Palace and West Ham mates from work. Never looked more than a headless chicken.

Ha I thought the same, however I am only reporting what I'm told. The WH fan is die hard (apparently) and says each time he has seen Poyet play he has been a headless chicken. Bags of energy but lacking pace and chases everything.

Maybe I should call that WH fan John McClane?

to be fair he needs to chase everything if it's all getting hoofed over his head.

And from some of the most discerning fans as well.

In just 7 minutes with the game won a young player making his first ever appearance in the Premier League comes on as sub and is only "very average".

    You just have to laugh.

I actually went to Upton Park tonight. Admittedly I didn't stay for extra time as my west ham mate has a new born and a wife needing assistance but in the 90 minutes I saw, he looked half the player he was for us. Didn't push past the half way line once and kept playing very short passes.

But it was a shocking game and yes, he could probably be considered the best of a bad bunch

He may have been told to play short passes and not get caught too far up the pitch. As we all know Big Sam doesn't go for the legendary West Ham style, what ever that is/was.

I was at Upton Park as well tonight, and I agree with allez les addicks. Poyet moved the ball from side to side a lot, picking the ball up from defence in the hope of starting moves, but couldn't do anything particularly attacking with the ball. To be fair, the forwards weren't giving him many options, but it does seem like his default setting is to play the simple ball or go backwards rather than attempt to play it through.

West Ham looked like a side struggling to adapt a new passing style of play tonight, so maybe I'm being unfair in this criticism of Poyet.
