  • I should be grown up and say that it would be good to have a player of his quality in the team but he chose to move on for a 'new challenge' as he had achieved so much in 20 professional games. Rightly or wrongly he basically thought he was too good for us and his whole 'truth will out' episode left a bitter taste for me. As others have said we shouldn't hamper the development of someone like Cousins, who should be played in his natural position (sorry Jacko), by bringing someone like Diego. Central mid isn't an area we are struggling in. He chose to go to Wet Spam and no doubt the financial rewards help justify his decision but if he cant get in their side then that was his choice. It might be a bit of a reality check for his ego if he is back playing Championship footy in the next few weeks.
  • From a personal POV would I want him back - No.
Would I want him back to help CAFC get closer to the top of the league - Yes
  • If he did resign it would people be trawling through old posts on here in the same way that some people went through DPs two year old tweets?
  • Still waiting for "the truth" about why he left.
  • Still waiting for "the truth" about why he left.

If it is nothing to do with money, then I owe him an apology
  • Probably going to be a great player and would definitely enhance our team....... But it's still a no from me and it has to be a no from RD if the supposed "give youth a chance, bring in players for long term benefit and to add to their value, move players around the system for everyones benefit" is to be believed.
  • Not a chance in hell of him coming back to us on loan.
  • All these rumours is there ever any substance too them.

He can fudge riggggggght off I don't rate cousins either but one of then dedicated himself to the club when he probably could have gone while t'other fudged off.
  • Wouldn't believe anything on that twitter, got tons of stuff wrong, another 15 year old in his bedroom copying all the other twitters.

And if it were true, no, wouldn't be keen at all.
  • A small part of me die's every time someone refers to the game as 'footy'.
  • which part ?
  • Wow, karmas a bitch
  • He's just tweeted something about returning to "pastures old"

I looked on his tweet, and the last message was on September 3rd, where did you read this?

Hook line and sinker, they will be drawn to the top
  • Well, call me Colin but he hasn't even made it into West Ham's 25 man squad just the U21 development squad. What a crying shame ....

Under 21's are not required to be part of the 25 man squad. They are exempt.
  • I was looking for this tweet, but all I found was this

However disappointed I was for DP not to stay at Charlton for a couple of more seasons. DP has got a good and positive attitude as a professional footballer. Positive attitude and looking to learn, as a football manager or coach, you would be happy with that.

Digitally speaking, very rarely does he put a foot wrong as well.
  • If, and I think it is a big if, he comes back then it will be a case of a situation seriously mishandled, mainly on West Ham's part.

Surely Allardyce would have known he would play a bit part at best in league games this year. They could have bought him and loaned him to us for the season, that would have saved the abuse towards DP and we probably would have settled for that as a fan base.

As it is I cannot see him returning as I believe bridges have been burned already.
  • Would have him back in a heartbeat as he is a fantastic player.

Everything else about "it's not right" and "he betrayed us" is sentimental nonsense.

If they benefit the clubs chances of promotion then I can get over that sort of stuff.

I imagine that Poyet was viewed as a cheap youngster who would be around the squad as a back-up and play the league cup games when they got him, however they probably didn't predict Alex Song would become available which has pushed him further down the pecking order so only now they can't give him any game time. Ultimately football is really fickle so I don't care that he's gone and would want him back as he was our best player last season and would probably look even better with the huge upgrade in players surrounding him this season.
  • We are all miffed because he did not sign a contract so that we would have made millions on him. That was Tone's fault, the big prick. Diego has a talent that could keep us in the play-offs so I hope we resign him.

Imagine he came back, and was instrumental in us having a promotion chasing season.

    Image we got promoted?

Would he have paid us back?

Personally I think he should have signed a contract and stayed at least a season. That he didn't is more about TJ/MS not nailing him to a contract.

    I'd have him back.
  • He isn't even what we need. I would rather sign a cb and striker

I certainly was not fond of the TJ / MS era, but cannot ignore the fact that they saved our club and got us out of League One. I genuinely believe that had they the money to pay DP to commit they would have done. I am glad they decided on the future of the club, and didnt gamble it against the signing of an untried, untested youngster with a famous surname in the hope of a good transfer fee in future.
