Since CL is a broad church, it is only fair we balance 'socialist worker' with 'caring conservative' or even 'business ethics'. And for another topical oxymoron, how about 'affordable housing'?
Back in the 1950s conscription days the term 'military intelligence' would have qualified, as well as such classics as 'the jolly farmer'. A staple for several centuries has been 'bad luck'. In more recent times I heard one ex Charlton manager described as a 'clever fool' and one of the players as a 'silent whinger'.
Not strictly on topic, but it always amuses me when one of ny trendy atheist friends comes out with phrases like 'thank God' or 'for God's sake'...Oh well, I guess we all need from time to time some 'crisis management'!!!0
