That Jensen goal is one of my all time favourites!
  • How did Jacko's goal go in? Did it take a deflection as Ruddy is a decent keeper and you would expect him to get down to that.

Going from the reaction from those at the game, I was expecting a missile into the top corner.

Cracking celebrations though. Was that Moussa behind him?

Jackson's goal was a bit of a lame shot from that distance

Yeah - I didnt want to say that for fear of being lynched on here. But on such fine margins do the direction of threads change on this board. 'Number 4 your time is up' was knocking the final nails into the coffin of his CAFC career. Now 1 scuffed daisycutter later and he is the first name on the teamsheet again.

The shot was that bad it went in the back of the net.

Yeah, I hope this doesn't blind everyone to JJ's shortcomings, while of course emphasising his strengths: instinct, leadership, 'not afraid to have a go'. As I said elsewhere, he's an ideal player for away games.

    That's a tiny bit harsh.
I don't think anyone is saying he is the first name on the teamsheet, but that he has a role to play with the team/squad/club.

Yes he is older and slower, the question is whether a replacement (e.g Buyens) is going to come up with a goal out of nowhere, or have the same overall impact on the team.

If you look at his goal against Watford on the final day last year:

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=qllDmmBjRGI

you will see him put in a tiny "pace-adjustment" to get the vital touch.
That was just 6 months ago and he was in a team of so-called "World Cup players / Welsh Internationals / £4m Bolton Strikers" who have nowhere near as good a football-brain as Jacko.

There will come a day, of course - but it ain't yet.

Love Jacko to bits - while we still can

"I don't understand it, Clive. He kicked the ball and it hit the back of the net, he shouldn't be doing that, not at this level"
  • Everyone seems to suggest there was a deflection, but personally I struggle to make it out.

Jackson said it himself on Talksport just now,
he said it was going one corner, took a deflection and went in the opposite corner which wrong footed the keeper and it went in, he said he will be claiming it tho

Probably the greatest goal i've ever seen
  • We were right behind the goal, the ball took a touch from a defender, putting Ruddy off balance......great goal

That explains it then, I was wondering why Ruddy appeared to react so slowly!

Even though I wasn't there and have only seen the goal on the above clip, you can see it in Jacko's eyes he played for the deflection.

I'm with you on this. Press etc just trying to cover up for John Ruddy's mistake. When I heard it was deflected I though they meant the type that we suffered over the last couple of years when Hamer et al were flat footed with the ball going in the opposite corner.

I was sat in the press box. It clearly took a deflection. That's why the press are all saying that.

Why on earth would the press want to cover up a mistake from Ruddy?

From looking at it on here can't see a deflection , and if it did maybe only a slight one , looked like jacko mugged the keeper.

    The knee-slide in full:

All those sour Norwich fans behind him. Brilliant.
  • Please can someone buy Jacko a pair of knee pads , poor lad.
  • Why do people on here always want to knock and criticise when we bag 3 vital away points that keeps us up the the pack! Not worthy of the points because it took a deflection a was a week shot anyway!!
I wouldn't have cared if we had scored a goal of someone's arse they all count
I'm sure most on here prefer us to lose so they can f##king moan some more?
To be there and see the look of horror on the norwichs fans faces was worth every penny!
  • We were sat in a box just above and to the right of the goal. We had a 3 course dinner and a free bar tab. Our host on our arrival told us we were going to be crushed.. he meant it to. The gasps of horror when we scored was delightful.
Couldn't stop laughing. The addicks to our left were brilliant all night. Proud to be Charlton.

I get that feeling from some on here, its almost as if they cant bare to be happy, I dont care if its a 35 yrd worldy or the ball pin balls around, hits someone on the arse and goes in, all that matters is we win.

If you read the thread again most people are delighted we won and enjoyed the smash and grab of it.

You seem to often to do this ie take the views of a few and state that "Typical Charlton Life that everyone blah, blah" when it is just not the case.

Call out the people you disagree with by all means but don't lump most people into a group they don't belong to.
