Is that in time to play for Iceland? or should the club pull him from the internationals, as the big clubs do.0
-
I went last night too, shame I didn't spot him.0
-
Let's be selfish and pull Johann Gudmundsson from the International because He had a groin strain for two weeks and now after treading on the ball, needs the 3 weeks to clear all problems up, hopefully.

If the player is fit then he should play!!!! Biggest honour for a player should be playing for there country.soapboxsam said:Let's be selfish and pull Johann Gudmundsson from the International because He had a groin strain for two weeks and now after treading on the ball, needs the 3 weeks to clear all problems up, hopefully.

He won't be more than 90 % fit and then will be more likely to do more damage, just look what happened to
Daniel Sturridge.0 -
Didn't mention anything about internationals. Nice bloke tho, didn't seem in like a rush to get away as some footballers/celebs do if you know what I mean. His girlfriend tho WOW0
-
Yeah but we'd both be happy for him to play for Charlton at 90% wouldn't we?soapboxsam said:He won't be more than 90 % fit and then will be more likely to do more damage, just look what happened to

We want loyalty from players - we have to nurture and support it, and that includes celebrating when our players our honoured with national team selection.1
-
One of the most technically gifted players I've seen in charlton red, if he's available he plays no questions .. Whether that's for Iceland or charlton.0

What was Lee Evans like?0

Sweaty and made of rubber2

Whatever his injury state, we need him back, him on the pitch ASAP as he is a whole other angle of atttack we really need to be dangerous.0

No of course not, but you were suggesting it was hypocritical to be happy for him to play for us while carrying a knock but not for his country... In that specific case, yes I think it's acceptable for us to decide to take the risk knowing that there was a chance it could set him back, but no, I don't believe we should be ok with an international manager taking the risk on our behalf when we're the ones that would ultimately suffer... Especially as we pay his wages.C_Jensens_Love_Child said:

Not really sure how you read my original post to mean that I don't think any players should play internationals in case they get injured... Maybe next time in your eagerness to make a point you should take a breath and try and read the words a bit more slowly...1 -
So would you're feelings be the same when Wenger and co pull player's out of the England squad due to being 90% fit? as Arsenal pay there wages? It would become a farce, there's some players by there own admission who play a high percentage of games over the season far from 100%.LeaburnForEngland said:

When it comes to a player returning from injury, then I think it's completely understandable yes, you want to manage your own player's reintroduction to competitive football... I agree it's a different situation with a player who's carrying an injury all the time and waiting for the close season for an op.C_Jensens_Love_Child said:

IMO if he didn't play for us in last weekend before an international break then he is under no pressure to play during it.2
