I wouldn't start YBG anyway, keep him on the bench .. but I see your point .. YBG in for Tucudean would possibly be better, but if neither are fit then Grant might get a start ..

we seemed to be playing a diamond with Moussa behind the front 2, I know BP changed it at halftime and moved Cousins to left and JBG on the right, but that was mainly to help Wiggins with Drenthe

So I don't think a diamond would be out the question again

I'm sure we'll look to keep it tight, quieten the crowd down and try to open them up later in the game with Igor and Gudmundsson entering the fray (assuming they don't start). As ever, the first goal will be vital.

As we all know, one of our persistent problems is the inability to make the ball 'stick' up front and then bring others into the play. George Tucadean is not really able to do that. It partly explains our poor possession stats and puts pressure on our very good, but overworked, defence. Hopefully we'll be able to do something about that soon. When you see teams like Boro being able to bring on forwards of the calibre of Vossen and Tomlin from the bench, it illustrates just how far we've been punching above our weight.

A difficult one to call tonight. It's Redfearn's first game as 'permanent' coach, so the crowd will be behind them, at least initially (although I see he's had the good sense to include a contractual provision that he gets his old Head of Academy job back if it doesn't work out; as Leroy Rosenoir commented in the Football League Show, you have to feel for the poor sod who's replaced him in that job). On the other hand, we couldn't really ask for a better time to play this lot.

Good luck to the hardy travelling support and let's hope they're rewarded with a good performance and a point or three.

That's a no then. He was with us from the start of that season. I thought he might have scored against Barnsley at home that year.

Yes but none of the four you have mentioned can play behind the front two.. that's why I'd play three of the four drop one and have moussaka or JBG behind the front two..

I would have done three or four years ago but I think the deeper role suits him better now...

Amdy Faye – Faye joined Charlton from Newcastle in August 2006 making 34 appearances for the Addicks and scoring just once. From there the Senegalese-born player had a brief loan spell at Rangers before joining Stoke in 2008. He moved to Leeds on loan from Stoke in September 2010, appearing in eight games for the Whites.

Kevin Nicholls – Nicholls came through the youth system at the Valley, making 16 appearances for the club, before a move north to Wigan Athletic. He had two seasons Wigan before joining Luton where he would stay for five seasons. He then moved back up north to Elland Road where he made 15 appearances in a short spell before joining Preston in the summer of 2007.

Lloyd Sam – Sam, like Nicholls, came through as trainee at Charlton in the summer of 2003. He would go on to make 134 appearances in a seven-year spell at the Valley. In between he had loan spells at Leyton Orient, Sheffield Wednesday and Southend United, before joining Leeds in July 2010. At Elland Road he made 39 appearances in two seasons, scoring three goals.

Radostin Kishishev – The Bulgarian joined Charlton from Litex Lovech back in August 2000. He went on to make 199 appearances in a seven-year stay. In March 2007 he joined Leeds on loan in their battle against relegation, making 10 starts for the Whites. A move to Leicester soon followed and he was back on loan at Elland Road the following season, making a further seven appearances.

Mark Aizlewood – The Welshman joined Charlton from Luton in November 1982, making 152 appearances and scoring nine goals before a move to Leeds followed in February 1987. His stay at Elland Road last two years, making 81 appearances and scoring four goals.

Leeds United legend and now LUTV commentator Eddie Gray made his final appearance in a Leeds shirt in a 1-0 home win over Charlton at Elland Road on May 12th 1984.

We haven’t beaten Charlton at Elland Road since the two sides met on October 14th 2000, with Leeds winning 3-1 thanks to a brace from Mark Viduka and one from Alan Smith.

New United boss Neil Redfearn spent the 1998/99 season playing down at the Valley, making 33 appearances and scoring three goals for the Addicks.
