So just how good is Igor Vetokele?

Is he premier league standard? Even top prem?

For me he seems to have a lot more to his game than just goals, he is quick, good in the air, can hold the ball up well and still only 22 years old so has his best years ahead of him!

I personally think he has a very bright future ahead of him but unfortunately probably not with Charlton but at least if he did ever leave we should get a good price.

Am I overrating this guy or is he the real deal?

He'll be in the Premiership next season. Just hope RD holds out for a lot of money.

Great eye for goal but he's still learning. I know he has struggled with injuries and probably tries to conserve energy but he does have quite a bit of down time during games. Is he prem class? Not yet. Can he be? Maybe but he is certainly in the natural goalscorer mould of Killer and Mendonca and comes alive when he gets the goal in his sights. One on ones need working on but hey I'm going to enjoy him developing with us over the rest of his contract that's for sure......................... Igor,Igor, Igor!

Are charlton not allowed to have a decent players?

He has only been with us for 4-5months and has definitely impressed...but not to the point where a premier league club would take a punt on him. Still has much more to prove before that happens.

He scores goals and is a good presence upfront. Suitable for championship level. He is a handful for defenders.

Contracts perhaps don't mean sh*t these days along with player power and the money that maybe offered to us, but he is still ours to lose.

He's lucky, at least 3 of his goals, Birmingham, Wendies & Reading the papers have reported that he was totally unmarked in front of goal. How many more defenders will be so obliging ? Lucky Igor, lucky Igor, lucky Igor !

Quality player but i think we would get a second season of loyalty from him in the Championship, assuming Bob is still the Coach next season.

Season after next, i think he is in the top tier, just hope that is with us.

Lot more to come from Igor, he's yet to get back to back hat tricks.

He is very good for this level, but I don't think he is Premier League quality yet.

He's quality. Surprisingly good in the air too. It's great to have some attacking threat again.

Jordan Rhodes scores 20 plus goals in the champ for 3 seasons and is still there but Igor who is on 8 is on his way to the premier ?

Igor is injury prone, can't score one on one, and is too short!

He should stay at CAFC for 10 years and be our top scorer of all time. (:>

Played the game to a fairly high standard actually thanks (many years ago though) ....... maybe I should have put a smiley at the end of my post but thought the reference to the newspapers would be enough, pretty obvious that Igor is losing his marker. Sorry I'll curb any future attempts at humour.
  • I would be surprised If he is with us next season unless we have a play off miracle. Quality player.

I wrote on here after the Portsmouth friendly that we had a hell of a player on our hands. Nothing I've seen so far has swayed my opinion. Portsmouth defenders were terrified of him that day. He must be a nightmare to play against. He never stops running and has the ability to turn on the after-burners and leave people in his wake at 5 or 90 mins.

The thing that excites me most is that he hasn't, IMO, been fully fit since the end of August. If he sorts out the little niggles he has had I'll be amazed if he doesn't get 20+ goals this season.

Think BP is the reason he is here and suspect he'll show him some loyalty when the premier league sharks inevitably start circling.

Whether he is here next season is anyone's guess. He is still young and I think that will bump his price up, but suspect a bid of 6-7m in the close season would see him move on.

Rhodes is still in the championship because he is on £50K a week at Blackburn already (a close friend of both Jordan and myself told me this during the prolonged transfer saga. He also got Jordan registered on this very forum too)

    This
I've posted elsewhere that the recent change in FFP rules is going to really ramp up transfer fees next summer. Perhaps an additional £100m+ will be spent by clubs pushing for promotion - and Vetokele / Gudmundsson will be targets.
This in turn means that just by signing these two (with more to come) that M.Duchatelet and Staprix have made CAFC sustainable overnight!
We give it a go this season and whatever happens CAFC might receive upto £10m next summer. Annoying in some ways and I'm sure many will say we should hang on to top talenter, but at least we know our club has a future.

I'd be interested to see what the fanbase think as we approach the halfway mark...should CAFC go for it with more signings in January or build more slowly, selling on the way...or perhaps a mix of both?

Why were you only on the bench yesterday at Brighton, Jordan ? (coming on in the 90 min)

Would you come to CAFC and take a 40K a week drop.?

Which will be wonderful if we can pick up another Igor at half of that and spend the rest on our squad but we know it's not that easy.

I just hope we can get a couple of seasons from him. Not only would our asking price skyrocket if he continues the way he's going but he might also deflect the attention from some of our other desirable players such as Johann or Jordan.

As for whether or not he can do it in the premiership, that's a question that could only be answered if a prem club were to take the gamble. Some question the fact that he's scored a few goals where he's been unmarked, but is this down to poor defending or great movement from Igor?

I really don't think we've seen the best of him yet. Stick a decent target man beside him and I think he'll show us another level of his game..................

Anyone know what the 'He beat Ebola' song was about yesterday? Was it just a joke as he's been injured or was there a deeper reason for it?
  • F*** me is that a new low in terrace chants or what?
  • I'm surprised that he didn't hold off choosing which country to represent as I'm sure he could have had a shot with Belgium.
  • Look at Danny Ings, scored bucket loads last season but in the prem he's not really up to much. Doesn't help that his team are struggling, but you get the point.
