I keep hearing both sung during a round of Valley Floyd Road, which is the correct one?

    "Covered End"

On the rare occasion that those in other stands rouse themselves to give us a song perhaps they sing "Valley Chior".

Well it won't be anyone in the West stand because they'll wake their neighbour up who'll be having a kip, and it won't be the the jimmy Seed so that only leaves the 'A' blockers in the East stand and I can assure you we sing it properly :-)
  • With the speed it's sung these days I wouldn't be surprised if some were saying Valley choir just to cram the words in.

Without getting too dramatic and Charlton Life about it, we're in danger of ruining a proud song the way we do it at the moment. Slow down, everybody. Slow down.

Although for you it would perhaps be more appropriate to sing "Coiffured End Choir"!

Tempted to flag that! - Just to confirm that (some in) the West do join in singing, not just clapping, and it is and always has been 'covered end' regardless of where you sit

That's why people complain the songs are too fast. It's so difficult to put the flask down between claps

Valley choir doesn't even go ????
  • We've only been singing this song for about 50 years, so is it any wonder people still don't know the correct words...............

It's "covered end choir" at least I was getting that right. However much to the embarrassment of my mate after I was singing oh Bob Peeters he's not a red but we don't care (thinking that he's not a true red because of his Millwall link" probably should of clocked on when we were " oh Bobby peeters is a red, is a red, is a red, Bobby Peeters is a red, he hates Millwall"

  • Many miles have I travelled,
    Many games have I seen,
    Following Charlton my favourite team.
Many hours have I spent in the cupboard in quiet,
    Singing Valley Floyd Road,
    My only desire

i actually thought it was that for a little while

That bendy thing with a dot underneath was used at the end. You've used one yourself.

I used to think "is that all you take away?" was "here's the ball you take away". More worryingly, I also thought that Madonna's smash hit, "Papa Don't Preach" was actually called "Poppadom Freak", and was presumably a song all about Madonna's obsession with Indian food.
