Striker on Trial

The whole thing doesn't make any sense. I am not going to waste any more time in engage in this discussion. Vetekele and Charlton needs an effective strike partner to challenge this season. This whole thing appears to be another blind alley that is clearly going nowhere.0

I was thinking more from the perspective of the player/agent i.e. we don't want anyone to know he couldn't even cut it at little old Charlton.Henry Irving said:
As he is on trial, and the club haven't mentioned him at all, it would seem they are having a look at his ability/fitness etc and not engaging in any spin at all.Addick Addict said:Whatever happened to a player being signed based on ability rather than "perception" or "spin"?

This must be what it's like to live in a world where punctuation was never invented OR you get knocked down by a bus and wake up in text speak land!1 -

to be fair he's not putting that all over facebook or twitter and it might not even be his attitude.Addick Addict said:

He's out of work.
He's having a trial with us. He may have a trial or trials elsewhere. The club could do with more strikers. This guy might be a good option. Or he might not. They are having a look at him to decide.
The club were trying to keep in hush hush for whatever reason/s. But it leaked.
The club didn't play him in an U21 game. Maybe to keep it hush hush, maybe he's not fit, maybe they have already decided to let him go or sign him.
It might go nowhere or he might sign. We don't know but worth a look just like the many other players who come and go on trial.

If this mystery striker was any good.1 why would he sign for charlton.2 if he that good why does he need a practice match.3 just get bikey to make him sign the deal can't see him saying no to the beast0

remember we got yann on a free after seemingly no one else wanted himcafcledbury said:If this mystery striker was any good.1 why would he sign for charlton.2 if he that good why does he need a practice match.3 just get bikey to make him sign the deal can't see him saying no to the beast

If it was just puff to get us to watch the U21 game they didn't think it through at all. The camera work was rotten to put it mildly and the feed was dreadful, I haven't seen that much buffering since I was on dial-up.
Maybe Tulio's just no good or at least nowhere nearly as good as his agent tells him he is?
Ketts loves an empty 'scoop' and a few of us took the bait, moving on...0 -
Bikey was a free agent in the summer... we made him play in a trial match ....cafcledbury said:If this mystery striker was any good.1 why would he sign for charlton.2 if he that good why does he need a practice match.3 just get bikey to make him sign the deal can't see him saying no to the beast

Im amazed that some of the posters on here are actually adults. This isn't Football Manager and neither is it some kind of dramatic episode of Dreamteam.
The blokes on trial, lets just see what happens. If he's pony then we wont sign him, if he's good then BP will want him. I dont see why people are chucking toys out of prams over something they cant affect and they shouldn't even know about!26 -
If he's good enough, we will sign him. In Bob, I trust ...4

The only worry is, how fit is he? He only played about 5 games for Evian and was released in July. I know he has probably been training but it could take to the new year before he is match fit., if that is the case, we are only go to see him come on for cameo appearances for a few games and build him up so he can manage 90 minutes, I remember BP saying the same about Bulot and YBG that they had to get used to the championship0

what are you talking about?! You mean to say you know nothing about football if you make a decision on a player without actually seeing him play?! I don't come on this forum or follow Charlton to be an adult. I do that the rest of the time. I come on here to be a cantankerous sarcastic opinionated idiot. One of the pleasures I get from attending football matches is that I can shout and swear and generally behave in a manner that would probably get me locked up anywhere else among others who do the same, safely.9

I wondered the same about OO coming in on a short term contract and was surprised that he went straight into the matchday squad. But he must have been getting some sort of playing time somewhere, as he aquitted himself well enough when he came on as sub at Leeds.
Maybe the same for this mystery striker. It worries me that he's been unattached since July - where has he been training and has he had any kind of game time? If so, his fitness may be nearly up to speed and he'd be ready for perhaps the bench in a fortnight - in which case offer him a short term contract in January in which to prove himself.

And Kermorgant's record before joining us?Dazzler21 said:0.23 goals a game for De Melo... Not sure how many assists but that isn't great.
46 goals in 197 appearances.
Tucudean has 0.275 goals per game at 41 in 149. once again no idea how many assists.
Not trying to be sarcastic (and yes should move on) but just curious compared to these two...cafcledbury said:If this mystery striker was any good.1 why would he sign for charlton.
How would we ever sign any players then?

My questions:
What is he hiding ........ injury, spent force, attitude, wage demands?
Why has he had no club since July?

Why does there have to be a hidden agendaOggy Red said:My questions:

can it not just be he has not found the right club that suits him1 -
Looks like we've missed out again... Striker on Trial0

Okay, Paulie.
Here you have a talented and experienced 29 year old footballer who should be in his prime; played Champions League and made his name at top flight clubs in France, Italy and Denmark.
And he's been out work for 4 months.
It's a strange position for a top player to be in.

Were we ever in for Gudjohnssen though ?
I know he played under Big Bob at Bruges and it was rumoured on here ,but like Tulio lets wait and see what develops.0
