I am just really keen/ impatient for Charlton to have a decent strike partner alongside Vetokele. The false dawns so far this season drive me crazy. With a second decent striker supporting and contributing some goals, I can see Charlton springing a surprise and competing in the top 6 spots. Lets hope Charlton get that player soon.

Can't take anything you say seriously until you spell Vetokele's name right though ;-)vff said:

I understand and sympathise with the sentiment but in fairness to the Club there are two parties and attendant hangers on to every transfer.vff said:
Maybe the whole thing is a lot of B*ll*cks. There is no story. There is the appearance of activity with regard to getting a strike partner for Vetekele when there is feck all happening.Henry Irving said:
to be fair he's not putting that all over facebook or twitter and it might not even be his attitude.Addick Addict said:
I was thinking more from the perspective of the player/agent i.e. we don't want anyone to know he couldn't even cut it at little old Charlton.Henry Irving said:
As he is on trial, and the club haven't mentioned him at all, it would seem they are having a look at his ability/fitness etc and not engaging in any spin at all.Addick Addict said:Whatever happened to a player being signed based on ability rather than "perception" or "spin"?
Not sure what there is that doesn't make sense.vff said:The whole thing doesn't make any sense. I am not going to waste any more time in engage in this discussion. Vetekele and Charlton needs an effective strike partner to challenge this season. This whole thing appears to be another blind alley that is clearly going nowhere.
He's out of work.
He's having a trial with us. He may have a trial or trials elsewhere. The club could do with more strikers. This guy might be a good option. Or he might not. They are having a look at him to decide.
The club were trying to keep in hush hush for whatever reason/s. But it leaked.
The club didn't play him in an U21 game. Maybe to keep it hush hush, maybe he's not fit, maybe they have already decided to let him go or sign him.
It might go nowhere or he might sign. We don't know but worth a look just like the many other players who come and go on trial.
If the club could communicate with supporters in the straight forward manner that Bob Peeters does then things would go a whole lot better.
The Club, if it is to retain longterm credibility, cannot make unilateral announcements until it is clear that both parties are in agreement.2 -

Too 6? You set your sights low don't you? This league is there for the taking. And we are massive.vff said:

Back to Charlton.
I've already said about Chris Wood at Leicester, also Kyle Lafferty, at 6.4 and 27 years old
who had a decent career at Burnley, Rangers and is doing well for Ireland.
Norwich appears to be the wrong move for him. Playing alongside Igor, he would be a good foil.
The stumbling block would be wages again, so a loan move would be the best option.
Sometimes you have to think inside the box!

Don't like Lafferty his play acting against Aberdeen (I know it was ages ago and I don't like Scottish football in any way shape or form) still makes me angry.soapboxsam said:

And it's the speculation and conjecture on the internet I live for. Sod all this official site nonsense. We all wish we could relive the numerous threads re: Andy Delort.Henry Irving said:vff said:I am not going to engage a long drawn out, nit picking, discussion with you Henry about the ins and out of the De Tulio non signing, non appearance in the Under 21 fixture, trial / non trail. I don't have the time and can't be bothered. The only thing worth noting is that Vetekele is still without a strike partner.
Yes but we don't have a game this weekend.
Meanwhile we have a potential striker on trial.
That's it really.
The club never said he would play in the U21 game.
You seem to be confusing what the Club have said (zero) with what has been speculated on the internet (that he's here and might play in the U21 game).
He is here and he didn't play in the U21 game.
That's it.
I'm just imagining what CL would've been like 20 odd years ago when we were linked with very few players publicly and did less deals. Can you imagine the fervour on here over Bradley Allen's £400k move0 -

Not that often, as they have 5 strikers,ForeverAddickted said:Kyle Lafferty plays for Norwich
I was going by what i had seen this season for Ireland, More than the weak scottish league. (for cfgs)
Other wise Hooper, who is also a Norwich reserve, would come into the picture.

He is a decent enough player at this level (did ok for Burnley) he is just a dirty cheating git.soapboxsam said:

Not sure why the club would comment on this player if the original intention was to not even announce him as playing on YouTube feed for the reserves. After what happened with Delort i'd rather they kept this sort of thing quiet until it happened otherwise we could get scuppered again. Coquelin and Onyewu were out of the blue so it proves we are trying to do things. Just keeping it quiet.

Point taken, but dirty cheating gits never seem as bad when they play for us!cfgs said:

So If I'm reading this right De Melo was made up bollox but Kyle Lafferty is about to sign with Bradley Allen as coach.
Well done RD2 -
One can speculate as to why he was there but that bloke in the videos higher up the thread watched us play Reading on Saturday.
If he is indeed De Melo then nothing has been made up about some sort of link with Charlton, permanent or temporary, whatever that might be.0 -

De Melo looks good as long as he is playing with the likes of Gervinho (who appears to set up nearly all his goals.....)0

I agree about Chris Wood, but Lafferty is a joke. A cheating, talentless thug stealing a living as a footballer. Got away with it at Rangers, but found out just about everywhere else he has gone.soapboxsam said:
