Newport is in South Wales about 12 miles or so north of Cardiff, Newport County play at Rodney Parade

Stacey territory - there is a brilliant take-off* of "Empire state of mind" done in Newport (I think it was there)

    * I was going to use the word parody but couldn't bring myself to do it.
    This is the Badger

The parody, Newport State of Mind.: http://youtu.be/Eijc2tGe-zM

Would have also liked to post a video of the stunner I saw Jp score a couple of weeks ago. Really surprised at the assumption that he hasn't done well there. By all accounts a class above with his touch and vision.

Joe is class. Real tekkers and awareness in that player, in a decent team could play a teddy Sherringham role. Just because he isnt a 100m speedster or a lanky beanpole doesn't mean he hasn't got game.
Not an assumption, an honest view from a Newport supporter.

Would we really want someone who is in the process of having one of those cheapo Thai shirts tattooed onto his body?

    Time to move on.

Find it hard to believe the article 100% although there maybe some truth in it.

Sounds like an agent covering his back

Meanwhile we still need another striker

I don't believe these figures at all.
  • If there's any truth in that it's probably De Melo's agent that proposed 20k a week, not us. I can't even see us offering 11k.

  • The article is a work of a fertile imagination. There is little doubt the player has some pedigree but £20k a week for 3yrs for a player who has suffered multiple knee injuries and been unable to complete more than 35 full games in the past 4yrs? Yeah right.

If someone thinks MLS teams are not going to crawl all over his medical records then they are going to be sadly disappointed. You do wonder what planet some agents live on.

  • Agent : We want 20k a week for 3 years. Experienced pro etc etc
Charlton : Ok lets get him in and have a look at him. Let him train with the boys and see if he's a good fit.
    2 weeks later
Charlton : Good player, but we think he's worth half that. We'll give him 11k a week until the end of the season, see how it works out, and reassess at the end of the season

Original article was said 11k in euros, suddenly that's being reported as pounds. Google makes that £8.7k which might not be too far off. I doubt players like Vetokele and Gudmundsson would have come here for a lower end Championship wage.
