Well at least Rudolph Walker is still around for that.0

Love Dads Army, favourite episode has to be the one where they take the U-boat crew prisoners. "I like my chips, crisp und light brown"
Hopefully they do a good job on this new film.0 -
looking even better now more cast members have been announced. If you read the article it's in beinb Yo
If you read the article seems like some funding is coming from "Screen Yorkshire".Bryan_Kynsie said:According to the local news this will be filmed on location in Yorkshire, about which some are already creaming themselves! The original was filmed in Norfolk.
Can't see why it needs to be done. Bit like PL games being played abroad. Mystifying.
Great casting, hope it's good.0 -
Frank Williams, yes but Janet Davies who played Pike's mum died in 1986 - just 59 years old.LenGlover said:
I think Frank Williams, the vicar, is still alive and the actress who played Pike's mum.iaitch said:Is it only Ian Lavender that's still going?
But Pamela Cundell who played Mrs Fox is still alive. (A co-incidence, maybe, that she was married to Bill Fraser who played Sgt. Snudge in the comedy The Army Game and its sequel about national service.)
Edited to say Liz Fraser, who played Mrs Pike in the 1971 film is also still alive.0 -
That show is bloody cursed! So many of the cast have died. However I think the actor who portrayed Raymond the butchers boy may still be alive.1

Had no idea you were a PC leftie Jim! :-)Greenie said:

Oh yes....the filthy lucre....
Certainly not meant to be high art.
I know PC lefties like you don't like the idea of making a profit but if people like the film it will make money and if they don't it won't. That's capitalism for you but you socialists don't like that and would rather we had to watch czechoslovak cartoons about singing ringing trees.
I've never been called PC before even as a wind up!
I think I love You.0 -

Can't wait for the Love thy neighbour re-make....................0 - Sponsored links:

Rumours that Pamela Cundell has passed away, as yet unsubstantiated.0

Oh shame, if true. That would leave just Pikey and the Vicar. I believe.

I read somewhere that Liz Frazer was brought in, as Janet Davies was not considered 'sexy' enough for the film.cafcfan said:

There is a war on.

Yes - Pamela Cundell's obituary was in The Times today. Married to Bill Frazer.
So, just Pikey and The Vicar left now, or if you're a true connosieur of the show, Mrs Mainwaring also:-)

This sort of film will be best enjoyed by those who have never seen the original series.
How do you replace Arthur Lowe, or Clive Dunn, or Ian Lavender..? Arthur Lowe truly was... and always will be..... Captain Mainwaring. Nobody else could play that part with such loveable pomposity. Who could possibly throw a panic like Corporal Jones?
To those who have never seen the original series, the new film might be entertaining and have a cast that they recognise and relate to, but I'm afraid I won't. Whoever tries to play the part of the long suffering Sergeant Wilson, I would sit there thinking "Not as good as John Le Mesurier. I wouldn't be able to stop myself from making the comparison and finding the new bloke wanting.
Sorry, but it just won't work for me.1 -
But at least you're giving it a chance.5

Must be me. I think it looks awful.3

Not just you. The only good line was 'No need for Latin, Wilson' at the end. Other than that, the script looks really poor, typified by that '...slipped her a sausage' innuendo.carly burn said:Must be me. I think it looks awful.

Looks pretty good, the line about Mainwaring meeting Churchill was a cracker, could easily have come from the original series. I shall reserve judgment until I have seen the whole film though.1
