I like this kid , he got away with a flap from a corner which he dropped in the mix but the ref blew for a free kick but everything else was very assured.
He's still developing and I like what i see
I'm not one to rate or bid anyone up just cos they play for us but I can see Pope having a bright future in the game , hopefully with us

I think he'll end up at Roma, as he'll want to be closer to home.

I was on my way to the match when i got a call , saying have you heard the team lineup yet, when i heard Nick Pope was starting in goal i was worried for our chances of getting anything out of the game, young lad , derby game , nerves etc also given how JP did last time out against Millwall

To be fair , i thought he was possibly our man of the match , calm assured and confident , Nick rose to the challenge, he stood up to the pressure of a derby match and looked like he'd been in goal for us all season, well done Nick for proving me, and a few others wrong, you did us proud, quality performance.

that bournemouth striker in the TOTW looks good... doesn't seem to be getting much playing time either...

Good boy Popey. The best way to play in a high pressure match is to find out at short notice.
Clean sheet against the Spanners - not many can boast that !

We have some excellent young goalkeepers at charlton in Pope , Phillips and Metrov. Only worry is that they are all a similar age so there's a good chance being on the bench or under 21s is going to hinder their development
  • Pope did well, a pressure match to come back in and he can be proud of his performance, you could see his confidence building as the game went on

Yeah I noticed that. We probably should do something about it. I suggest we give him a good old-fashioned charlton booing against Ipswich if he takes too long to take a goal kick or conceeds a goal.

I hadn't realised what a good save it was from the low shot by Jermaine Easter until I saw it on the FLS. Top quality. The lad has a good future and I now have no qualms about him standing in for Henderson when needed.

  • If BP decides Henderson is his number one, and Henderson recovers quickly from his knock, then I think it would make sense for NP to go out on loan again. Will be a much better learning curve for him than sitting on our bench. And with Phillips and Mitov both in reserve and supposedly promising, no problems if one of them sits on the bench.
