Charlton never do things the easy way and are no good as favourites.

I therefore cannot see beyond a Blackpool win but desperately hope to be proved wrong.

We really need to win this one. A draw or a loss puts us in an increasingly bigger hole in the table. If we can't beat blackpool, there will be few people who can still take us seriously. We've seen Lee Clark before and we know how his teams play. Tucudean beside Igor and Callum on the left will be our best bet. Pope has been putting in some good work so I have no complaints there or at the back 4. We've all said it, if we score early we need to keep the peddle down to be successful. The game is 90 minutes, let's play all 90. Blackpool have been in increasingly good form of late, but however if we play out cards right, we are still the better side. Give me 2-0 to Charlton, George and Callum

Blackpool have strengthened and improved since Clark's arrival and given our inability to turn umpteen chances into goals and a team that is setup more for success away from home than to produce scintillating entertainment at the Valley, yet another (yawn) draw is to be expected ..

    Comfortable home win 4-0.
  • 0-1 or 1-1. Lee Clark knows how to do a job on us, I expect a similar game to Ipswich.
  • Think bob needs to go for it in this match... One defensive midfielder is enough we don't need to pack the centre of midfield.. I would go

    Tucudean igor
    Harriott
    cousins gudmundsson
    Coq
    Fox tbh bikey solly
    Pope

Think the back four with coq protecting should be able to contain Blackpool.. and it would give us plenty going forward. And when off the ball cousins can move inside to support and harriott can move out left..

I think we're more likely to see

    Igor
    Harriott
    Cousins buyens coq gudmundsson
    fox tbh bikey solly
    pope

Yoni has to play if fit, I think it will be, usual back five, then YBG/Colquelin/Buyens/Cousins with Harriott up front with Vetokele. It would seem wrong to move Harriott from up front the way he has played this last two games. I am confident we can win, but it will never be by a lot, perhaps 2-0
  • Absolutely no excuses on Saturday. We should control the game from start to finish, and if we go 1-0 up with a decent portion of the game left, then we should push for more.

    3-0 Charlton.

Totally agree, apart from the scoreline.

Blackpool will probably be relegated with about five games to go. Club in disarray, the team a mess with no away wins all season.

Would not surprise me at all if they go back home with at least a point.

We become passive when we go into the lead, so we need to score in added time to go ahead.
and then camp out in our half for the last 60 secs.
I hope we can progress past this one day.
    1-0 to the reds.
  • 2-0. Vetokele and Harriott.

Expecting same team as in the opening post except Cousins on the left, Harriott up front and Buyens in the middle.

We'll need to score more than once to win as Blackpool are bound to score against us.
  • Surely we all know, after all this time, that Saturday has lucky away win written all over it??

To the small handful of people on here predicting a comfortable home win, my message is "enjoy your first ever Charlton match"!

To the rest of you, my message is as follows:

    Blackpool to win - 16/5
    Blackpool to win 1-0 - 8/1
    Less than 2 goals - 7/4

I'd've thought Harriot would continue up front as he's played well the last couple of games.

Would be interesting to see a Buyens-Coquelin partnership in the centre. On paper, should be very good, though I know it doesn't always work out like that.

If Coq's out can't see us winning.

Hoping for a 3-0 win, and we have by far a stronger side.

    Fearing the worst though
  • I reckon we can look forward to a 2 - 1 win. Go ahead, fall level, and then get the winner near the end. COYA!

I agree that BB will fancy picking Gudmundsson left and Lawrie right but I hope he doesn't. So far Gudmundsson looks like he could be one of the best right wingers in the division to me, he's decent on the left but no where near as effective and I'd rather we had our best players in their best positions.

    I'd go;

    Pope
    Solly Ben Haim Bikey Fox
    Gudmundsson Cousins Buyens Bulot
    Harriott Igor

I guess it depends on who he's up against on the side that he's playing... If the opposition are weaker on their left then play Gudmundsson that side, if they're weaker on the right then thats where he plays surely

Wilson offers nothing from the right wing imo.

He's a solid right back no more.
  • 2-1 to us, we storm ahead early with goals in the 1st 20 mins then relax, they score and we defend like b*stards for the rest of the game until a 98th minute final whistle
  • Squad:

    4-4-1-1

    Pope
    Solly, Ben-Haim, Bikey, Fox
    Gudmundsson, Buyens, Cousins, Bulot
    Harriott
    Vetokele

Subs: Etheridge (gk), Wilson, Gomez, Oneywu, Pigott, Tucudean, KAG

    Win 2-1 (Vetokele & Harriott)
