Just watching the Itv programme about the tsunami back in 2004
Hard to believe it will be ten years this Boxing Day.
Was on Ko Samui at the time which lucky wasn't affected. Went upto room from the beach and had thirty odd missed calls on my phone. My parents new was on an island but not which one and had seen news on the tv.
Three of us were there.
I had been to samui before so wanted to go Phuket.
My mate had been to Phuket before so wares to go samui.
The third had never been at all so tossed a coin to decide where to go.
RIP the hundreds of thousands who died in this tragic event.

Had to do some research into the NGO response to this for uni last year. Truly shocking disaster and remember sitting in my nans front room watching news reports on it ten years ago. Can't imagine how scary it must have been for those poor people. RIP.1

As an aside, an incredible story I heard the other day about the tsunami:

Woke up early and watched the news all day. One of my good friends was out there on their honeymoon at the time and we didn't hear anything for days. Horrendous waiting for news.
Thankfully ok in the end as they were high up. The stories they told me about what they witnessed on the way back to the airport remain with me.
RIP those not so fortunate.0 -
