I asked some friends who potter about on the River Severn

Wouldn't they be seriously cold to live / sleep on in winter ?0

My other half lived on a Dutch barge on the south coast from around age 10 to about 17. Worryingly, she was on the only one in her family who could swim. She did say it was cold and damp in the winter and clothes, books etc all went mouldy. There were logistical issues, but they coped.0
