What did we all think?

I couldn't make my mind up - some good crosses, obviously a good throw, and a good physical presence.

But he did seeem to take a while to decide what to do every time he got the ball. And then hit it long.

Comments

  • I thought he did well. Considering it was his debut and his confidence must be shot to bits.
  • First game, I suppose that could account for having to decide what to do with, thought he had a very good first game, celebrated a lot when we scored.
  • I thought he was bloody good. Reckon he's going to come in very useful indeed.

He looked very assured on the ball, good engine and like Neil says he has a great phsical presence, impressive debut.

I liked the look of him and has one hell of a catapult throw. He's a big fella as well and looks like he will be a threat from set plays.
  • Is he 'our' player or loaned?

An excellant debut for the lad. Long throw, can pass the ball, a threat going forward.

    He is a loan player.

Rest of season loan from Sunderland ..sweetner from the Reidy deal.

Parky used to be his manager at Colchester.

I thought he was good. His height is a bonus, so is his throw. He did hit it long but he rarely wasted it. I think he's a much better bet than Moo2 I'm afraid. Moo2 is too iffy as a defender and given the fact that he can't seem to direct his crosses, he ain't making up for it in attack. I thought Halford was altogether a much more solid all round player.

And Charlton being a generally physically lightweight & smaller side, it doesn't do any harm to have a bit of extra height in the team.

Pains me to say it bing but you may be right. I think Motorkil will come good but is still very naive defensively.

Halford seemed to have the shape of a forward when he pushed on too. I know he was a bit of a utility man at Colchester so is right back even his best position?
  • Parky played him at right wing I believe, but he has been used as a right back more often than anywhere else.

halford right back and yassin right wing anyone?
  • I just love the fact that with Halford any throw in beyond the half way line becomes a penalty area/goal attack opportunity. With the corners being a matter of some dubious quality its a bonus which provided its not overused should result in some goalscoring opportunities.

I like him on that performance.
  • The throw ins are an un expected bonus. I thought he did well considering he has nt played a lot of games lately. The dummy and turn on the edge of the box showed a nice bit of skill too.Looks like could be usefull signing. Well done Greggers.

Only when Moo2 learns to cross the f*cking thing properly so that he gets it past the first defender!!

I thought Halford was excellent last night - bearing in mind he has barely played for a year.

His throw is in a good weapon - he can hit the half way line from the goal line! His distribution was very good and he is a true utility player. In his short career he has played all across the back for and midfield yet played up front for England U21's aswell.

I hope we sign him - I wanted him when he was at Col U

Great start Greg..and good to see you celebrating the goal so much too

Was it Halford that sold that dummy in the first half? it was an absolute belter the entire Palace defence had to pay to get back in.

Good debut, the dummy was sublime, thought he looked calm and assured.

He hit one absolutely fantastic cross field pass up to Ambrose I think, a really solid debut, I knew he could throw the ball and to be honest a throw 10 yards from the corner flag we are more dangerous than a corner.

Left two defenders for dead and was unlucky with the finish. I thought he looked good.
