Owner of football club treating fans with contempt shocker.
We are not the first set of fans to be treated like shit by an owner and we won't be the last.
He's ploughed his money in so we just have to roll with it I'm afraid.
If he wins his first few games no one will give a monkeys about what has happened, such is the fickle nature of football.
Much more annoyed/concerned when the rumours of leaving the Valley were circulating not too long ago.6 -
Just got home from work & fired up the laptop. Bugger.0

I wonder why Roland has so little respect for us. Katrien's claim that sacking Bob wasn't planned and we were going to cast the net wide for a replacement was posted on Monday. By 6pm Tuesday we had Luzon in. That statement wasn't even necessary. It was put in place to placate us ahead of an appointment a day later that clearly displayed the statement's disingenuousness. It feels like we're being knowingly treated like fools. Doesn't feel great.12

D it's gonna be interesting .nth london addick said:They will have to get on with it j, like we all will, I don't like it honestly, but what can we do he has a decent win %
If 2 chalets didn't own us and we got a mgr with that % who was mgr of standard leige in his last job most would say ok let's see
It aint his fault, remember the very same English players shit on Powell at Sheffield utd
No guts no heart no care for us or him that day
If solly went to palace as some are saying well that speak more about the player than anything else and you know I am a huge solly fan
We are an English club in a European network
This is us for a while now0 -
While the managerial merry go round is a bit of a farce, it did seem that BP wasn't getting the best out of the team, so hopefully Luzon can rebuild team spirit. At the moment we're mid table in the second division, historically where we've often been...
I don't know Luzon well enough to know whether he'll be successful or not, but to be fair to him most managers have suffered some sort of failure in their career, so maybe this season with SL was his. He knows many of our squad, and Watt really rates him. My hope is that RD will recognise the anger and actually give him some money for a decent non network acquisition this window, which could make all the difference to our season, as I genuinely don't think our squad is that bad.3 -
Has it occured to you that perhaps Luzon didn't want to commit himself to more than a year given the way he had been previously treated under RD?flyingkiwiDK said:
Gives a contract of just over a year and we all know he'll be gone in less than that.Addickted4life said:Katrien Meire/Roland Duchatelet:

What the way he got to leave Liege and still stay on RD's payroll as having another 'role' within the network? What a crap deal eh?
He only gave Peeters a year as well, I doubt Luzon had any influence over the length of the contract, long or short.1 -
Welcome Guy and good luck ..3

But then that would make it that Luzon is such a good manager that we must sign at all costs and on his terms. That what he wants is more important than "this club needs and deserves a head coach who can plan and take charge for the long term"?
I know that isn't actually what you mean but that is the only way you can get from KM's statement to what has ended up happening. Unless of course one just accepts that she was lying.1 -

According to this http://www.worldfootball.net/news/_n1303590_/standard-liege-part-company-with-coach-luzon/ Luzon's contract with Liege was until 2016. This isn't a new contract, it's just his job role within the network has changed.
Long term? Nah, just utilising someone who is going to be paid anyway.19 -
Good point. Pretty much everyone slated The Glikstens, Mark Hulyer & Sunleys.soapboxsam said:"we want our Charlton back"
Only when Roger Alwen and then Richard Murray (Pre Dowie)
did we ever have our Charlton.
For 50 years we had the Gliksten family. i'm sure Henry or Red chaser will let you know how they
missed the oppotunity for Cafc to be the Arsenal of south London.
sorry guys for most of our history it's been a battle for the fans to accept what the management has done.
good luck Guy Luzon, your need it.
Roger Alwen was seen as a good guy and so was Richard Murray, although many no longer see Richard Murray as a good guy/success.
Jimenez and Slater - well I daren't say what I think, as I don't want to be sued.
RD, ok it's all very bizarre.
But we want our Charlton back etc. Twas ever thus in reality.
Maybe we had our Charlton in the 70's and 80's, but there were only 4,000 of us attending.7 -
Firstly, thanks to the poster who said Luzon was on evens yesterday and that it was a licence to print money. I followed the advice and have a silver lining. When Luzon is sacked I suggest everyone gets on Fraeye very quickly indeed.
Secondly, welcome Luzon. I know little about you. It is joint with Dowie the most underwhelmed I have been about a managerial appointment. Every part of me tells me you will fail and we will end up with more Eurotrash in the team with no soul, no spine and heading to League 1 but hopefully you prove me wrong.
Thirdly, RD clearly has absolutely no interest in what his paying customers feel. This seems a daft businessman to me, especially with season ticket renewals around the corner. I won't be bringing anyone to the football for a fiver for the first time in a long time as I am now pretty embarrassed by what our club has become.
Fourth, Murray, if you want to keep any credibility you should probably stand down.
Fifth, if Solly is sold to Palace then that is it. I will not renew. I would be absolutely fuming.3 -
So we get players from SL, which makes you sick, as we're 2nd fiddle.CrayAddick said:Won't be going again this season.. Sick of being second fiddle in the network...
Presumably then, you want our better players to go to Standard Liege ?
That will please you ?0 -
so he was at The Valley for 6 hours, i wonder what that was needed for ?
5 mins to say hello again to Roland via Skype
10 mins for a coffee
10 mins to look at the players available from the Roland Euro Trash
5 mins to say hi to Kat and tell her what Roland wants
5 1/2 hours to learn football clichés in English " sick as a parrot"---"individual errors"---"cant fault the effort"3 -

Yet at that point in time we had already shipped in some players from the club he was 'head coach' of, so what does that tell you when he says he has 'no interest' in a club he was having dealings with at that time? It looks to me like he is basically laughing at Jose Riga, 'never heard of him'.vinnie said:
Luzon says he has no interest in Charlton in that video ... Lets hope he shows some bloody interest nowseth plum said:Is it this charming bloke from March last year?

If Luzon feels at ease treating others that way, then he ought to have a nicely developed visceral understanding if he himself is ever on the receiving end of such treatment.

I'm just being confident because I love this club!!DRAddick said:
What if he doesn't and we go on a run and finish 2nd bottom?uie2 said:Ok yes Roland is playing Russian roulette with our club but what if Mr Luzon is now given money to spend brings in top players we go on a run and not just make the playoffs but finish 2nd, what will people think then!!? Luzon apparently broke losts of records in his first season at Liege! Seriously lets give him a chance!. No room for sentiment in business in this day and age so if Wiggins, Jacko ,Solly etc are frozen out it yes will be hard for them but this is football anything could happen!! Welcome Guy Luzon and good luck
I see you've read the OS spiel which conveniently forgets to mention how Luzon's Liege season actually ended.
I wish him well obviously and don't really have any strong opinions on his appointment per se. It's everything going on around it, the blatant lies and RD's failing to learn and down right egotistical arrogance that is pissing me off. Here's hoping the appointment works out this time.1 -

I wouldn't mind betting he has never attended a game in the English Championship. He could not name you, which teams make the up the championship, and until two weeks ago was part of the Charlton ? Is that Bobby Or Jacky gang ?
In other words he has no bloody idea what to expect !3 -
This. Feel a bit sorry for the bloke in a way.Athletico Charlton said:

18 months is pretty long term for RD. Will probably be sacked before then.Oggy Red said:He's only been given an 18 month contract - until June 2016.
Katrien said something on the lines that the next manager was for the long term, didn't she?
RD will end up hiring one of his kids as Charlton manager, keep it in the network, someone he can trust (and is younger then JJ)0 -
God there are a lot of wrist slashers on here.
I want my Charlton back? Get a grip. Just how many of the names on the Sky bet list did you actually want? More importantly, how many did you actively NOT want? How many did you REALLY think he would actively consider given his record?
Why are you all calling them liars? They had their main target and paused to consider if there was anyone else. You obviously do not believe this to be true. However, why the wait? They could have appointed without the wait and without the press release -so why the wait and the press release? Just to wind us up? I do not think we rank that high!
I would suggest a name came up that they wished to consider. I also would suggest the possability that this would also be a name we may not have heard of. Given RDs history it was never going to bè a local boy, was it? Mathews was the only local family candidate, but I do not think it was him.
I suspect that there was another candidate that was considered and interviewed (video conferencing? ), but was not better than Guy.
Whatever, we have what we have. The only way is up!

Well thanks for popping by John. It is John? Richard, of course! I'm so sorry!boggzy said:
Thanks for your input, we will definitely be taking that into consideration. I promise.

Hopefully won't be a disaster. RD will continue ploughing ahead until he finds success or we end up in the Conference - he has a cunning plan which most of us don't share.
Luzon excites me as much as Dowie and Uncle Les did.1 -
