    I thought the same...
  • Is it bad that I googled Kasey Palmer to see if she was fit?

He was orginally on the stand by list so one of the mid-field must have dropped out.

Made in Charlton, more interested in his career than that off Andy Delort who people still mention despite never even playing for the club
  • Oh what a silly boy... Would probably be in our First-Team this season now getting proper experience

Yep no doubt he'd be involved by now if he'd stuck around.

Still I'm sure the benches at Chelsea are nicely padded.

Sure his bank account is nicely padded by Chelsea.

Not so sure he would want to be experiencing his career going in to sharp reverse with confidence issues like youngsters Fox, Harriott, Pigott and Pope though. Cousins has not progressed at the rate expected of him either although doing ok as is Gomez. Not a great time to be chucked in at the deep end at the moment I'm afraid.

Paulie, you don't need to explain yourself.

You think he'll get close to the bench???
  • Just a note that Spurs U18s are playing Chelsea U18s in the FA Youth Cup Semi-Final First Leg tonight with Kasey Palmer named on the bench for Chelsea

As a bunch of fans we need to move on : P
  • Bearing in mind we seem lacking at CM at 18-21 this kid seems a big loss although workrate questionable. How big is that Spurs no 5? Is that Mitov's brother in goal?
  • I was reading some analysis on Chelsea and how Zouma is now playing Defensive CM with Matic and Ramires leaving Hazard and Fabregas playing further forward and one spot left being fought over by Willian, Oscar and another chap I can't remember....

I did think of Kasey Palmer when I read it. Currently behind all of them plus Chalobah, Loftus Cheek and no doubt plenty of others I can't recall/have not yet heard of.

Something tells me that whilst Palmer may be richer than Gomez, Gomez will be enjoying his season somewhat more and will probably be the more likely to break into a PL team. Can't help thinking that if he had stayed Palmer would have had first team game time this season instead of struggling for a space on the Chelsea U18 bench.
  • Chelsea can afford to take punts on people, and dispense with them just as quickly, youngsters chasing the notes at Chelsea will rarely succeed.

I'd like to think that any parents of a young lad with talent would join our academy, because if they are good enough, and show the right attitude, they can make it into the first team.

Who knows whether Palmer will make it into the first team of a Premiership club, I don't know how good he actually is, but I am blooming glad we've got Jordan Cousins and Joe Gomez, who have shown loyalty to the club that gave them a career in the first place.
  • Even more telling with the Chelsea model is that the last player to break through from their Youth team and become a regular was John Terry himself - and that must be 14 years ago! I remember that Josh McEachran looked like he might make it a few years back, but he has fallen away now. It must definitely stunt a young players growth, constantly feeling that you are hitting a glass ceiling and being shunted out on loan to various regional clubs in the lower leagues. Will be very interested to see where Palmer and Gomez are respectively in two years time.

A friend of our son would have been on £12,000 a month if he'd signed a full contract with Chelsea at eighteen. Unfortunately, he buggered his knee and never got to sign it.
