Really like Jeff Stelling, but someone please tell him it's not Pie-go, it's Pig-ot.1

He needs to have a read of our "Which way is right" threadcblock said:Really like Jeff Stelling, but someone please tell him it's not Pie-go, it's Pig-ot.

I thought it was quite obvious personally.ricky_otto said:

He is a good finisher. Like Scoham said a few posts up, it's other parts of game that lets him down. I like him, but league 2 is his stamp.DeflectedWide said:"He's one of the best finishers at Charlton and I'm hoping he can bring goals to the team."- phil brown. Does he know something we dont?

Having watched a few u21 games over the last few seasons, my first impression was both Joe and Azeez could have a career in 1st or 2nd division.
With Michael smith i felt he could be a 3rd striker at a championship club or the main striker at a 1st div club.
Nothing i've seen in the last year has made me change my mind.1 -
indeed feed the pig

When you say "could have a career in 1st or 2nd division" do you mean they could play in League One or League Two or that they could play in the Premier League or Championship ? I agree with the former, probably not the latter.soapboxsam said:Having watched a few u21 games over the last few seasons, my first impression was both Joe and Azeez could have a career in 1st or 2nd division.

Seems to have found his level and fair play to him. I'd be surprised if he's ever anything more than a decent league one striker.
If we have aspirations (and i'd like to think we do) of pushing up the championship and contesting for a play off place, we ultimately need better strikers than him.2 -
I still think the pig can play for us and be a success12

Was at the game yesterday and I was very impressed with him. Looked good with the ball at his feet. His goal had se luck as it took a deflection.1

His level is league 2. Good luck to him0

Before we start writing him off maybe we should be checking what league we're in next season!5

I would have said Prem or Champ otherwise.
What had set Joe back was that game against Millwall at the Valley,
I knew how lively he was in the u21 and would still like to see him given another
chance but he would have to grab his opportunity this time as with Igor, Watt and
Aherne-Grant, maybe George ? plus anyone else this week, he would have to move up the pecking order.
if you want to be a champ striker, you must score a hat full in the 2nd.
As so few people make it from most academies, i meant they could has
Pro careers in the game,(unlike Tamer Tuner who quit playing at 23)
which most of us would give our right arms to do(unless we were Keepers)

Would like to see him get some more games under his belt before we try him again, a spell of 20+ games between now and the end of the season (at Southend or other) will do him the world of good. He's only played 27 games, not a lot for a lad his age.
I think Bob was right when he said that he needs to find out what kind of player he is. You look at his height and think he would be a target man, but he prefers the ball in to feet and to link play from there. More likely to be a 'second striker' who will chip in with goals and provide the link between midfield and attack. Actually think he would fit in well with the style of play we have this season.0 -
heard he scored a squeeler this weekend?2

Paul Hayes was a bit similar, a good link up player, and we played good football with him in the team, whereas once we signed YK, a more traditional target man, we went a bit more directBringBackMendonca said:Would like to see him get some more games under his belt before we try him again, a spell of 20+ games between now and the end of the season (at Southend or other) will do him the world of good. I reckon the Millwall CBs sussed him out at the Valley last season by constantly whispering 'apple sauce' in his ear.0

Better playing at the Valley than the so called Lion's Den which is, after all, more of a sty.RedChaser said:I reckon the Millwall CBs sussed him out at the Valley last season by constantly whispering 'apple sauce' in his ear.
