I loath Tories but her reaction to Cameron's obeisance to Abdullah is wonderful.

How cool am I, I loathe Tories. For me, politicians are just doing a job. Some are competent, some aren't. It just so happens that the Tories have some competency; Labour have close to zero.

A post so bad it gives a new meaning to 'Kafkaesque'.

I'm a socialist why would I do anything other than loath Tory politics. They are the antithesis of what I believe in.

Fair enough. I think you mean loathe though. Not loath.

She courts publicity any way she can get it. Disgracefully used parliamentary privilege to hide behind and avoid being sued libel.

Doesn't mean you need to preface your point with your own prejudices. Imagine if someone had posted 'I think women are stupid but she has a point here'. Unnecessary language. If I say I like an actor, I don't go out of my way to validate my praise of them by saying 'despite them being a filthy commie'.

It's a matter of style I think and I think it's valid in this case as it shows my appreciation of her action despite my general dislike of her and the opinions she has expressed on other matters.

Your point about women is different, you choose your opinions, you don't choose your sex. So to preface comments about a woman with generalisations about women would be sexist and gratuitously offensive.

I disagree. You're never going to agree with someone on 100% of their opinions, therefore to preface a statement by saying you'd normally loathe anything she says because she is/was a Tory is unnecessary. It seems needlessly nasty. Surely if someone expresses an opinion it should be taken on its own merits, not on the basis of their other, unrelated opinions, especially if their political views are considered to be moderate/mainstream.

If you are a socialist, who on earth do you vote for?
Sure, back in the 70's Labour would fit your bill, but since then?

They never really fitted my bill. But as the SWP always say I voted Labour with no illusions. Or green, or on one euro election for the wonderfully named Marxist Pensioner Party.
    This time it'll be green.
