The article said he's club is trying to arrange a player loan to cover their injuries, so he can join us Monday, with a guarantee that he will play, he has already had his medical at Charlton this week and agreed to come

Southend won 1-0 against York today. Pigott won the penalty that got them the goal.

SHAQ Coulthirst’s last gasp penalty secured Southend United a hard fought 1-0 win against York City at Roots Hall this afternoon.

The Shrimpers seemed to be heading for a fourth successive goal draw at their own ground until Joe Pigott was brought down in the box by Brad Halliday.

2nd brace for Joe this season, have always said he would have a career in the lower divisions if he could replicate the form he showed for the u21 team.
Who knows he may be the number 9 in league one next season for...............
  • Getting ready for a season in Div 1 with us next year.

Sadly I feel The Pig wouldn't get fed at our place at present. Did we even have a look at a shot in that first half last night?

But scoring goals is a good habit to get into and he's only just into his first proper run of first team games as a pro,so hopefully he'll be able to make the step up a league to play for us next season.

Based on what ? One appearance thrown in against millwall ? And a couple of short sub appearances ?

Not likening him to HARRY Kane but look at what a few loans have done for him . Pigot is scoring goals confidence high and certainly better than Bulot . I'd rather play pigot than Him .
  • Pigott given the service will score goals. He can make them for himself as well. Still the best finisher at the club, but needs to up his hold up play. Like most who have seen his development regularly, I still hold out a lot of hope for him.

Agree. There is a good player in there as he is proving.

Might not be Championship level yet or ever but we won't know yet.

Personally I think he'll be seen as a Championship level Teddy Sheringham in a few years but mostly likely not with us. Mock now if you like but I was right about bumpy ride wasn't I?
  • HI - I don't understand your quote re bumpy ride in this context? If it is aimed at me, you should know that I have been one of Joe's biggest supporters on here and have hated this network since 1 February last year (ie after transfer deadline day).

Wasn't aimed at you. I was agreeing with you

it was more for people who will say "League 2 is his level" and I was semi-joking that since I was right about bumpy ride I had to be right about Pigott.
  • Feed the pig and he will score
  • Good to see him scoring goals in his first real run of regular football. Whether he will cut it at this level or not, I think he is best off away from The Valley at the moment.

Throwing him, or any other youngsters in, and expecting anything from them in our side at the moment would be a big ask. Best off letting him get games under his belt and seeing where we are in the summer.

Good movement and neat approach play for the first goal.

Like the way Piggy looks up, realises he has time to pick his spot - good composure in front of goal.

Piggot has Phil 'more orange than' Brown as his manager. Phil has a reputation as a patient manager with good motivational skills.
  • Good finishes. We'd have to create chances for him to be able to actually score though. Phil Brown has realised that Piggy isn't a target man and can actually play.

If we can forget the Millwall game. Please forget the Millwall game.

Joe found the championship cb's too strong and knocked him about.

He looks so much stronger now and that was more like the Joe i saw 2 years ago for the Development team. he can make it in either League 1 or 2.

Too make it at charlton he would need to come into a team who are playing a more attacking game and start as the 3rd or 4th striker behind Igor and Watt
plus Aherne-Grant and number 9(where are you)would be in the mix.

If we are in a lower league next season we will have Kag And Joe as main strikers as Igor and Tony will be sold on.

Ive always thought he looks far too slow and clumsy when i've seen him.

In the video, Joe showed good balance for such a tall bloke - able to drop a shoulder and change direction.
Tidy ball control and composed finishing also.

There's a player inside of him.
