CP: I've moved on from Charlton split

  • See also Michael Morrison.

Of all the weird things that have happened at Charlton post Curbs, I find this one the most baffling. The current regime gave Morrisson a new deal in the summer and then apparently forced him out on what we are led to believe was a free transfer. If they wanted rid of him, why wasn't he just released in the summer?

Can't get my head around it.

I found this sale almost as baffling as letting Yann leave.

  • The Yann sale was fairly obvious in my book. RD sold some assets to get some immediate cash for ground improvements etc. The fact that Yann was a big supporter of the manager RD planned to sack in the near future meant that he was also removing someone who could potentially be a problem to a new manager. At the time, RD's estimation of the Championship was even worse than it is now and I'm positive he thought the incredibly poor loan players he sent over from SL would fill the void.

I reckon Riga/Katrien liked Morro but Peeters came in and didn't rate him.

I disagreed with the decision to sell Yann, but we got a fee for him and there were other political factors at play there. I wouldn't have done it but I can at least see reasons and some kind of logic for the way/when it happened.

With Morro, the club could have got shot for free in the summer (again, not a decision I would have agreed with). Instead they decided to pay his wages for another 6 months, not play him and then get shot of him for free.

It's one of a growing list of strategic decisions on the playing side of the club which don't exactly engender confidence in the decision maker's judgement.

Well 28th is the chance to say goodbye to the fans and say thank you after the game.

“But I’m looking forward to it - I’ll have plenty of friends and family there but it will be about what we do on the day, so apart from shaking a few hands and waving to one or two people, I’ll be focused on the game and doing my best to get a result.”

He will be absolutely determined to beat us and on the day that'll be evident throughout his team, I have no doubt about that.

100%. Huddersfield will be a force to beat that day, result will probably show the difference. We have no home advantage due to the current going ons. He deserves all the good credit he gets, for a new manager he's doing bloody well, not many new managers win the league with 101pts. A lot of us soon forgot that because we struggled in the Championship second season, had a good cup run too.. he was a breathe of fresh air that needed time. Now we have a breathe of shite smelling air all over the club.

Not that I would join in myself but I could quite possibly envisage a chorus of 'Chrissy Powell', were we to not get any wins between now and then and be losing on the day we play them

    They will beat us.

If they don't, then we probably somewhat got away with it, like we did many times during the rather deceiving, flattering "unbeaten" run.

If we get a much needed win before we play em, then it could be a tighter game.

Morale is extremely low at present.

I believe Chris Powell when he says he has moved on, but on the day, mixed emotions won't make it an enjoyable game, IMO.

I think that will definitely happen on the day regardless, and also regardless I will be joining in.

I think the opinion of Powell and opinion of current regime, etc, divides a lot of charlton fans.

Hope not, but be ready to anticipate a couple of bust ups between our supporters who voice a strong opinion either way with Powell returning to the valley with huddersfield.

In the summer and up until the new year, I was very much 50/50 with it, as in I really like chris powell and what he did for us, but things change, for the good or bad, you have to be open minded with this stuff. We were also playing well (ish) and appeared to have a new spark and injected with a new breed of foriegn quality players, a breath of fresh air. RD has invested in our club in every aspect, and has invested well.

I now just think RD is not a footballing person, not footballing minded, very lazy with the things that matter. The flipping manager network, not prepared to even look past it and is stupidly incredibly stubborn and narrow minded.

He is the owner and in his mind he knows best and if he feels comfortable with he decisions he makes, then it will obviously not effect him by what anyone else thinks.

Oh dear, ive woffled on and gone off topic.....

I'm happy to welcome him back prior to and clap him off after the game, I just wouldn't necessarily be doing it throughout the game

Definitely seeing it being used as a protest to KM if we're losing though

Agree with this. If circumstances/results/feelings were different it would've been a Curbs-like welcome back like when he returned with West Ham.

This has the potential for a perceived "love-in" which in reality is an easy way for the crowd to voice grievances against the current regime.

Can also see this happening, I think the atmosphere will be very toxic that day and won't be surprised at all if Huddersfield completely turn us over.
