  • My top 2 in terms of watching Charlton away from the Valley will be something like

    Parkhurst 40
    Upton Park 20

I've re-worded the original question but as many miles were travelled and many games were seen I'm claiming them as honorary away games.
  • Chelsea and Palace 14 times each.
    Fulham and QPR 13

    Very impressive Simonsen.
I cant wait to see Covered Ends tally .

Incredible to think that someone like Paul Ellis and quite a few others will have seen at least double the amount I've seen!

Another quick look at the spreadsheet.....

Been to 92 grounds (not always with Charlton)

Seen 92 Football League clubs play (not always v Charlton)

Seen Charlton play on 89 grounds (including Millwall two venues, Bolton two venues etc).

Seen Charlton win on 52 grounds.

Seen Charlton play against 87 clubs.

Also got a few guest appearances in for other clubs (a bit like the players during WW2!!)....

    Brentford 87
    QPR 22
    Fulham 21
    Dulwich Hamlet 20
    Hendon 19
    Hamburg 9
    Millwall 5
    Orient 5
    Crystal Palace 4
    West Ham 4
    Tottenham 3
    Chelsea 3
    Arsenal 1
Nottingham Forest 1 (FA Cup v Wimbledon, with lots of Charlton fans after we'd played at Notts Co. in the morning!)

    Tbh, as I've never kept a record, I wouldn't have a scooby.

I'll count up the away grounds I've been to.

I've been to 99 league grounds (some clubs I've seen play at more than one home ground).
I've been to 6 non league grounds (team's fallen out the football league).
    All games against Charlton.
The only league grounds I haven't visited are, Fleetwood, Crawley, Burton, Morecambe, Accrington, Mansfield, Cheltenham and York.

I suspect I'll be ticking off a few of them next season :-(

As to the original question, I've no real idea.

Charlton away wins? A few but only against clubs I've seen us at once or twice (Cardiff, Chesterfield, Dagenham, Crewe are a few). The luckiest ground is probably Swindon....7 wins and 3 draws out of 11 visits. I've only seen us lose there once...1-0 Wayne Allison (wind assisted I think).

  • Have also done this last year but at the moment mislaid the paperwork.
QPR was the top away ground for me.
Never seen us win at Liverpool 6 visits.
First away match Millwall lost 3-2 late 60s
First away out of London Oxford 1970.
    Favorites Shrewsbury,Grimsby.

  • Interesting, @Simonsen, that Swindon is top for wins. I've been there twice. Many moons ago, we lost 5-0 and more recently in the L1 play off when we lost 2-1.

    Great stuff
  • Can't even tell you all the grounds I have visited let alone how many times. I am guessing at about 40 grounds.

Most memorable being Yeovil in the rain, Wembley in the playoffs, Leeds in the FA Cup-one of my first and I remember the surge forwards on the terraces when we scored vividly, and beating United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

I feel sorry for anyone who's been there once.
  • I've been to lots of grounds 2/3 times but away from Charlton it must be Selhurst and Upton Park the most.
I think we played away for about seven crap years.
