Chris Powell - He Deserves a Welcome

will clap him to his dug out but don't like the idea of a 3rd minutes applause ?
I won't doff my cap to anyone other than current players or head coach.
(keep playing entertaining football Guy, then we will respect you soon enough)
Chris Powell is a good Man But from 3 to 5 on Saturday he's in the away dugout so don't forget that.
100% support for the reds.

Swear from some of the bollocks I've read on the internet about his return that some people would concede to losing on Saturday if they were guaranteed a selfie and a backslap from Chris Powell.2 -

no matter what your opinion of him as a manager the above makes him a true Charlton Legend as far as I am concerned

I love you SCP14 -
Actually I misquoted there oops! Note to self 'don't be so trigger happy'. It was meant for @oohaahmortimer but if you felt the cap fittedKap10 said:

He deserves exactly what Curbs got a - big defeat and I am hoping for.

It is a bit weird though, feeling emotional cos our ex football manager is back. Something I'd expect from a teenage girl4

But OOhaah, does that extend to applauding him DURING the game or even wanting him to win?oohaahmortimer said:The first England /Charlton international in my lifetime a huge part of our Premiership success a true gent

The man epitomised what a true Charlton player should be for well over 200 games as a player for us. He loves this club. Why else fo you think he kept coming back? A great player who always gave everything. For that alone he deserves a welcome.10
-
I love him as well. If I saw out the window him walking down my road I'd quickly run out and put a coat over a puddle for him.8

A brief show of acknowledgement of powells connection and achievements with the club before the game.
Nothing more nothing less. Don't kid yourselves here.
He's a charlton legend but this is football.

if Hudders are 4-0 down i'd applaud him during the game and i do want him to win but NEVER against us (unless by us losing to them it could send millwall down)Kap10 said:

'football supporters' crack me up.
The bloke is an out and out, Charlton legend.
If you can't see that, or embarrassed by that, then I genuinely feel sorry for you.36 -
Will clap him before and after the game and hopefully in the 3rd minute if the applause takes off. A true legend and genuine nice guy.6
-
Yes but not if the only reason he was there that day was to rob your house/try it on with your missus surely not?! ;-)AFKABartram said:I love him as well. If I saw out the window him walking down my road I'd quickly run out and put a coat over a puddle for him.

I will give him a big round of applause when he emerges from the tunnel and probably again at the end. Beyond that I will make myself ignore him, because to see him standing, calm and dignified, while Luzon goes through his full array of demented chimp impressions would be too painful to take.8

Think everybody has missed the point here. On Saturday a true ex player and hero of charlton returns with his current club. I for one will be applauding for a minute to support him. I hope you all join me in welcoming back mark Hudson and give him the tribute he deserves.
Thanks for everything mark, from all at charlton!16 -
I'm with oohaah. A couple of years ago, I saw Chrissy on Sidcup High Street.
I let out, a really loud, involuntary, "Chrissy Powell." He laughed, shook my hand and carried on, on his way.
I too love Chrissy Powell.12 -
What price Chris Powell swinging on crossbar at Jimmy Seed end ?
What price Guy Luzon doing Tunnel Jump ?
What price CAFC fans start slapping each other over this ?2 -
Tbh I think if Arsenal fans sore Thiery Henry walking down the street they would do the same! Why shouldn't we do that to our heroes?Covered End said:I'm with oohaah. A couple of years ago, I saw Chrissy on Sidcup High Street.

Football is football but sometimes we should not be blinded by competitiveness and learn to have a good time and show appreciation too. What was it we used to say? Charlton's more than just a club.2 -

I'll give him a cheer. He was a great player for us. Not such a good manager.
If we win do you think he will do the tunnel jump for old times sake.0 -

When we've stopped cheering Chrissy, I know he's injured but will you join with me in starting up a 'Johhny Jackson runs down the wing for me' rendition Col?...................I'll take that as a NO as well then.colin1961 said:He is manager of Huddresfield end of story ......
