I realised it was Spring this morning. First time there were flies on my dog's poo on the lawn.

I saw my first butterfly of the year at lunchtime - a Brimstone.
Yellow Archangel is out in the woods and lane-side verges. Primroses abundant.

Orange Tip and a Red Admiral (which would have hibernated through the winter) in my garden today.

Brimstone's, such a beautiful pastel yellow.

You can tell what an abysmal climate we live in when people are high fiving in shorts and flip flops in 15 degrees!

Spending so much of the year in Southern California for so long has spoilt me. Mid winter should be 20 degrees and sunny please............

I thought this thread was about Matt Spring.

But yes the weather has been lovely.

'Twas even 18 degrees in Jena. Bit of a shock after skiing the previous day only 70 miles away.

Beautiful day in the Canadian Rockies - we still get snow in early June so not calling it spring yet but this has been such an incredibly mild winter - hardly any snow and the ski hills and trails are bare. Feel sorry for all the Brits who'll be booked up and heading over here for the skiing - there isn't much! The other side of the continent is another matter all together
