    Very sad news... Ray was one of the heroes in 'my' first Charlton side. So much energy and brilliant timing when jumping for a header. RIP

    Very sad to hear this. One of the many great players that Eddie Firmani assembled that nearly won promotion in 1968/9.
    Rescued by Eddie from West Brom's reserves, all of us of a certain age remember those wonderful strikes against Derby, Palace (FA Cup) and an absolute screamer against Fulham (away) on a bitterly cold afternoon early in !969.

    As others have said some of my best boyhood memories of supporting Charlton, watching some great goals scored by Ray Treacy. Sad news indeed.

    So sad to hear this news.

    Like others have said, one of my boyhood heroes.
    And a key member of the legendary 1968-69 team, managed by Eddie Firmani.

    Was also regularly capped by Ireland, at a time when it was a rare thing for a Charlton player to represent his country.
