Would you have Jackson start next season?

This isn't a come in no.4 your time is up thread, but just thought I'd throw it out there based on what I had read on the "Johnnie Jackson speaks on the forth coming season thread"

Obviously he's our captain, a great leader and has an excellent record at this club. We also still have a summer full of transfer activity (hopefully), so we don't know who is coming in.

For me it's a 'no' even if he's playing a holding role that was mooted on the other thread.

What does everyone else think?

depends who else we have signed .. for all we know Keith Peacock could be lined up for a recall in extremis .. but seriously, if we keep Bulot, Buyens and Cousins, Jackson will start on the bench at best .. for my part a career working with our youth would be his future role

We won't be keeping Buyens.Bulot is debatable. RD is looking for to sell Buyens.

Think he's still got something to offer. He's still got the touch and the vision but struggles due to lack of pace, so need to find him a role where lack of pace isn't a problem, same as United did with Giggs when he couldn't hack it on the wing anymore. Holding midfielder might work on that basis, certainly worth giving it a go.

If he's fully fit and he shows he's back to his best in the pre season games - Absolutely.

Don't think he's quite up to the valiant role but could do a job as the robin.

No, we haven't had a creative CM for years now, that's what we need!
  • Yes unless we sign better players

Let's get serious (and it seems the vast majority are). Love him for what he has done in the past but if he is a starter next year then we are in big trouble
