I didn't realise he was playing half the time! Very good at hiding.

What can I say. There was an absolute ton of discussion on here. You somehow missed it all.

He was on loan to us. He returned to Belgium before the POTY "do" & signed for Genk some weeks ago.

Yep - all those penalties kind of floated into the net on their own ;)

    Left us? Back to Liege.

Or, left Liege? To Genk, rather than come to us?

I'm not sure it's the same Buyens, I saw the commentary mention the name but shortly after it made reference to him making a header so presume it must be someone else

Best footballer we've had at the club for years. Just not the physical presence that we perhaps needed some of the time

True, showed real class the way he shrugged his shoulders when he gave the ball away for Bournemouths goal at the end of the season. It reminded me of players we had in our PL days like Faye against Wycombe.
  • One of the best penalty takers. Never in doubt.

    I'd go;

    JBG
    Yann
    Coquelin
    Henderson
    Cousins

above Buyens, there are probably a couple of others who could arguably be in there ahead of him (TBH maybe).

Nego, PP, Lepoint, Eggert Jonsson and Thuram.

    What do I win?

I see what nick was saying in that in pure technical footballing ability he is one of the best I have seen in a cafc shirt in recent years! He lacked in other aspects of his game such as commitment and physicality that others such as cousins/jj have more of...

    Henderson
    Solly
    Poyet
    Kermorgant
    Gudmundsson

Those are five dead certs in my opinion, but you could also argue Cousins, Wiggins, Coquelin, Ben Haim, Fuller, Gomez and Jackson.

I was talking in terms of actually being able to kick a ball, find a man, not hopelessly hit it too long etc.

    Buyens was a real footballer.

We won more games with Yoni in the team and were a much better team, he scored every pen he took and could stick a 30 yard pass on a sixpence and yet some of you don't rate him because he didn't put himself about like Vinnie Jones, we really do have some winkles supporting our club.
