cheers for that, well at least if he is as good as these scouts think, then hopefully a lot of them saw him on a once off bad day, and turns them off of him and if he is any good, then maybe its just us still interested

Apparently on his way to Sunderland and has just declared for the Republic, having played for
Norn Iron at youth level. Maybe we have missed out, but he seemed to be linked with quite
a few of the mid-tier Premiership clubs. We've done some impressive business this summer and seem to have picked up just about everyone we wanted, so we can't complain. Hope he does well for himself.0 -
No we definitely cannot complain about signings. I wonder how many Powell slaters from last season will love him this season if things go well0

Just scored for Sunderland and helping my accy in the process!!

From what I've seen of Sunderland games on TV, he's thriving under O'Neill and enjoying himself. A little naive a few times and needs to pick a better choice of pass now & then, but has made the step up look pretty easy!0 -
He looks a very good winger, big strong and direct!0

Cant believe I missed this thread.
Said a couple if weeks ago this feels will end up at Man Utd. Reminds me of Milner but won't be overhyped be size of his lack of Englishmess.
Quality player.0 -
from the first time I saw him play for Sunderland I said to Mrs Large to keep an eye on this lad. Didn't realise till reading this that we were interested. He looks to have everything to me, going to be some player.0

Been a useful addition to the Fantasy Football Team too ;-)0

Have told my Donegal mate that he needs to sharpen up his scouting skills and get us in there earlier in future!! ;-)
Tbf, McClean's adapted brilliantly. Hopefully, our extended scouting network will be able to pick us up a few like him as we step up as well next season.0 -

The problem is not seeing the wood for the trees, it's seeing the onions from vegetable counter.

July 2011Like the sound of this guy.
Lightweight, short and doesn't score much.
Perfect for L1.
Oops...........Hindsight is such a wonderful thing!0 -

I think there's a bit of background to this with the British army killing civilians where he grew up. He's still a little c*nt tho. Doesn't like the queen unless it's her head on a pound note.9
-
We should have bought him........ i presume he has no problem with the Belgian anthem?.2
-
Really pissed off with the way he acts. Truth is he is actually born and raised in Northern Ireland (therefore British, no matter how Irish he thinks he is).
Equally infuriating are the lefty Guardianistas on social media trying to defend him.7 -

Gotta laugh at your comment there Thomas.6

The Celtic fans on Twitter have jumped all over it like he's some hero. I hope that club burns to the ground.7

I just think there are far more important things to be bothered about.
The guy doesn't want to join in, I respect that that's his view (whether I agree or not) and let him get on with it.
It's not like he's burning poppies or deliberately being inflammatory. Why should I care?16 -
It's OK guys. I've set a reminder to post some manufactured outrage on this thread in November when he unexpectedly chooses not to wear a poppy for the fourth year in a row.

When your dads from Belfast and a catholic but at the same time four brothers were in the RUC. I think I know a little bit more than you.cafctom said:

Haven't made myself out to be an expert have I? Just making it clear that I think his behavior is wrong and disrespectful.5

So you own the Northern Ireland conflict then...Curb_It said:

Anyway, I'd prefer he didn't turn his back on the national anthem of the nation in which he makes his living - he wasn't forced to cross the Irish Sea after all, however I'm damn proud to live in a country that affords him the right to.6 -
No I don't own the Northern Ireland conflict.
Prick.
But I know a fair bit.4 -
Quite angry with the offensive inbox messages I'm getting.
Get over yourselves you loyalists.
Xx

Fuck him. Happy enough to live here and take the money that comes with playing in England but will show blatant disrespect like that.2
