Yep. I hope Reza is not out for long. We need him.
  • Feel sorry for Reza if he is out, seems to have come back, got his head down, worked hard and got on with it only to be taken out by some clogger.

Reza is genuinely one of the most baffling/infuriating players I've seen in the Charlton shirt in recent times. Someone like Church, he is generally not all that good so for all his much vaunted effort and running around, poor performances are pretty much expected or at the very least unsurprising. Reza though has definite talent and as shown at the World Cup is far from lazy or feckless when in the mood, so the times he quite clearly can't be arsed or is playing well below his best are all the more frustrating because we know he's fully capable of being so much better.

We finally get a fired up, determined Reza who could genuinely give most Championship defences a real test and he's wiped out by a poor challenge from some chunky clogger of a defender. Did he kick a puppy? Break a mirror? Who knows but I reckon an on-form Reza and Watt on a hot streak backed up by the muscle and power of Big Mak and an improved/improving KAG would genuinely be the best strike force we've had since the Premiership days. And with Bauer and Diarra as an excellent partnership, a talented back up in Sarr and a midfield who can outfight anyone we can't out play we could genuinely be a force to reckon with over the next few seasons. We've given a team just down from the Premiership and two play-off/promotion favourites a really torrid time. Keep up this form and there is not a single team in the league I would feel daunted by.

Is Big Mak the new Leaburn for the 21st Century? Perhaps instead of the old mournful cry of " Leeeeebuuurrnn" we should adopt a new similar "Maaaakkkiiinnnnnnokkkkk"

    Ha, kwolity

A challenge phonetically, drop the I and it kinda works.

    SI-mon works perfectly.
I always used to like the mournful "Niiiigelllll" that Wimbledon chanted for Winterburn.

I feel like won't really be missing Reza when Igor is back

That could be a while yet tbf. And Reza can be a provider of passes and crosses which our other strikers generally don't or can't and Igor isn't renowned for - Big Mak is effective at what he does but Reza has quicker feet and more guile than the battering ram approach Makienok seems to specialise in. (And does very well in fairness.)

And the de Vries save from Bauer from GoPro in goal: https://youtube.com/watch?v=FjChyNigTi8

Don't think he knew much about that!

if the ball had hit him in the kisser he'd still be seeing stars today

The ball to Makinok where he glanced the header is exactly the sort of ball we need to play into the box more often to him, defenders wont be able to defend those type of balls against Big Mak.

All the teams who did well last season had 5 decent strikers to pick from in the Champ.
If Simon,Igor,Kag,Reza and Tony were at the top of their game then when i said we could finish 8th could be a possibility, (or higher ?)

The real issue is that other than Big Mak, i don't think the other 4 are robust enough to take the kicks that have been coming their way already.
Plus JBG and Cebellos are prone to being kicked as well and would come under the same Category.
So after just 4 games (inc cup game) we have Tony and Reza with knocks and Igor becoming the new sicknote, you can see we may need a couple more strikers to get through the season ? and rotation will be the only answer.

    Last season when the crosses came in we had no one to get on the end of them;
(Igor did sometimes) so the fact that Simon got on the end of 3 crosses in one away game augurs well for coming matches.
  • Short highlights here:

Mak had a couple of chances, but wouldn't call either of those glaring misses.

    Thank-you. Much better highlights.

Still no sign of Makienok missing an open goal ?

I thought Makienok was unlucky with his diving header and unluckier still with his glancing header.

But not as unlucky as Bauer. Quality saves from Darlow.
Much better highlights then the ones on Sky...cheers for that.

having just watched the highlights all I can say is that it is just as well we were playing a side that didn't know where the goal was, if they had we would have lost by quite a few.

Have to say that the Forest Tannoy announcements were the worst I have ever heard and sounded like the announcer was doing Dalek impersonations whilst eating a humbug and snorkling in a tub of custard.

I'm interested in how you know what someone sounds like whilst snorkelling in custard, with our without a humbug.

This! And what's more, Igor Vetokele (forgotten in the above passage?!) to come as well!!

Not surprised they were malicious tackles from Forest, a disgrace.

Feel a bit bad now, I was thinking he was not that injured and just did not fancy it after getting a whack.

You sure know how to spoil someone's lunch hour!

I guess we'll be lucky to get a win on Saturday with only KAG and Mak upfront.

this .. as I wrote above, it was a terrible foul from Mills that injured Reza for which Mills received just a yellow card .. there should be a referral system, a 'Court of Appeal' in which lenient (or harsh) bookings can be up or down graded, there is an appeal system for over harsh red cards, I rest my case M'Lud .. (I think I am right in this)

A dirty bastard like Mills is able to play on for his club whilst we are deprived of a very important player .. wrong, wrong and wrong .. Mills should be suspended for the same length of time as Reza is injured .. YES, some tackles, some fouls which cause injury are 'accidental', Mills was guilty of an assault and has got away with it

Naughty cheating dirty forest. I hope Reza heals faster than a month and that solly and watt recover enough for the bench against hull. COrestofYR

Wasn't it against forest last year that the spurs youngster Veljkovic had his shoulder stamped on and injured??
