Best Hols Ive had for evening entertainment were a cruise.
Loved it, ONLY minus were cabins/rooms are very small.3 -
When my kids were younger we used the Sol Hotel chain quite a lot. Reasonable accommodation, lots of evening entertainment.0

Been to Menorca a few times when the boys were young, absolutely loved it, very pretty, some great beaches etc, good food and san miguel but In my opinion not much to do for older 'children'. Used to go to the Canaries every year and enjoyed them, our favourite was Fuerteventura but it is quieter than Tenerife, Los Cristianos was ok but didn't really like Tenerife that much, it is very very commercial. If your children don't want disco's (is that what they still call them????) or lively resorts them Menorca might be a tad quiet for them imo.
Good luck and 'Happy Holidays!'0 -
Belgium is good at that time of year5

If you have to go AI (you really don't) then pay top dollar rather than an extra fiver a day and expect 5* treatment.
Check Trip advisor and local travel forums before you book.0 -
Majorca - been a few times all inclusive. Cala d'or I can highly recommend0
-
Tenerife - Costa Adeje area, plenty of decent hotels and entertainment nearby, also 5-10 minutes in a taxi to Playa De Las Americas or Los Cristianis for the livelier resorts, fantastic water park (Siam Park) with huge wave beach and slides on the doorstep.
Recommend The Rumpot or the sports bar opposite0 -
Am going to Sicily in August for my Honeymoon (Its going to be packed) why not try somewhere like the Greek Islands or Sardinia?0

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I'l have a look at those. Robbo, yep either Balearics or Canaries. PL54, a good idea if only for the beer, I could console myself with that!0

They are good but lots of kids. Perfect for me but you might get annoyed at all the kids and noiseMacronate said:not everone's cup of tea but:

What's the budget Phil? As Algarve mentions, if you want a decent AI experience you need to pay a decent price. Gran Canaria (Puerto Rico) is good shout as is Playa Taurito a little further round. Beauty of Taurito is that all the (about 6) hotels there are AI and you get entry to the on site Water Park included; google it. It doesn't get too busy either as it's a standalone resort and is right on the beach.
Still think Majorca takes some beating also and I would certainly endorse the Cala D'Or recommendation.0 -
Following the helpful comments from a few lifers (thanks again) and perhaps as a welcome distraction from all the doom and gloom I just wanted to confirm holiday now booked. We're off to Brussels for a two week stay at Hotel Du Chatelet! As if ! Seriously, we going to Lanzarote. Not been before but looks good and hotel ticks all our boxes. As the events of the next few weeks unfold I'm sure I'll be ready for a break!1

After all that you'e going to Belgium. You bastard.

I thought half term in Blackpool would be a good idea.
It's pissing with rain.
Nearly everything (except the pound shops) is shut.
I think i must be seriously underweight.0 -

Am there now, in Costa Teguise.
Any questions?0 -
Blackpool is never a good idea, unless it's Charlton away at the start or end of the season.Baldybonce said:I thought half term in Blackpool would be a good idea.

MOG, good for you, you'll not be missing the weather over here! I'll be staying the other side of the airport in Puerto del Carmen. A couple of questions, thanks. Is there anywhere that's a must see and is the marina area worth a visit? Cheers!0

Santa eulalia in Ibiza.....tropic garden hotel. Great resort. The youngsters will love it as enough to do without going to San Antonio.0

Salvador and Natal in Brasil.
Both the weather and women are hot, also protesting against the Belgians from what I have seen on twitter!0 -
Braydex, Thanks I'll look into that. EA, sounds good, think I can sell it to the missus on the weather, you've got me on the other plus point!0

I'm looking to book something in the UK, needs to be a bit different... Tree houses.. Narrow boats or maybe more obscure. Anyone got any suggestions from destinations that may have been visited ?0
