In the 'standard English model', it's the managers who are given a budget, decide who to sign and would push owners on terms of any potential deal.

I don't know what clubs the radio person was referring to, but in the Premier League, I think those who have embraced the 'continental model' with a DoF and Head Coach (eg Newcastle, Southampton, Tottenham, Liverpool) are usually fairly patient with the coach. One problem with our network is that there is no DoF or, if there is, it's Karel Fraeye's laptop.

I am not sure how the models compare in the Championship, English v continental, with respect to manager job security.

Sure there was. His name was Roger Johnson. A relegation zone club is going to have to spend even bigger than most to have a chance at anyone 'proven' and not several years past their sell by date.

A great team of real characters, but playing in front of 5000 people in Upton Park wasn't exactly brilliant!

T'was a lot better than playing at shithurst in front of 5k, & a BIG step closer to returning home! :-)

I thought he looked good. Rufus says he was quite good which is praise indeed.

Thought Lennon looked more confident with Tex alongside him.

If this is the sort of centre back we've been needing all this time, why have we been mucking about signing chuff on the cheap? It's clear that if we opened the purse strings just a little wider, we can get some real quality players.

Looked very good, you could see his experience in that he managed to continuously challenge the Blackburn players quite physically without giving away free kicks. Lennon and Fox should learn a lot from him.

Because pre Riga, no one at the club had a clue where to find any?
