Vilamoura

Hi all,
As I figured there won't be much excitement for us today transfer wise (hope proved wrong) thought would ask for some advice from you lovely lot.
I am best man and have booked a stag do in Vilamoura Portugal, we go at start of July and there over a long weekend.
There are 14 of us the age range is 25-50.
I have managed to get us a villa and done a fair amount of research but would just like to pick peoples brains as to best places to go.
i.e. what is Vilamoura's nightlife like? is there a club as such?
Is it worth heading to Vale De Lobo one evening, Gecko club?
I have been and know Albufeira Is an option also one eve.
many thanks all

Cracking little steak restaurant near the Four Seasons (which is a mile or two from the coAst - and overlooks the Pinhal Golf Club)

  • thanks @stonemuse I will do just that
    @Algarveaddick any advice ;)
  • Villamoura has lots of nice restaurants and bars, as well as a good casino, but if you want some proper messy stag do style boozing you'll need to jump in cabs to Albufeira and drop in at Algarve's Addick's bar to start off a big night
  • Thanks all so far much appreciate your help.
As i have a aston villa with games room and bbqs and pool etc will be making most of that, so one night thinking we cab it to Albufiera for a messy one (is Algarves bar called the Addicks bar?)
the other night more sophisticated decent steak meal, bars, casino etc in Vilamoura

His bar (Floyds) is shut now but he does some work in a bar just down the hill ... I am sure he will be in touch once he logs on
  • Here I am, back from a short sojourn west...

Don't really know much about Vilamoura, plenty of nice looking bars around the Marina - not cheap by Portugal standards, but okay compared with the UK.

If you want clubbing, Kadoc is a short taxi ride inland, doesn't get going until after midnight apparently. There is the casino in Vilamoura too, walking distance from the Marina.

The bar in Albufeira where I am frequently found, and where I host a quiz at 10 on a Tuesday and Saturday, is called One 4 the Road, close to the old town and a good starting point for a night out, decent restaurant owned by the same bloke whose bar it is right across the road too - as Stonemuse will testify.

I'll PM you with more info and advice later on.

I go vilamoura every year. I wouldn't say I'm an expert on the place but I can certainly point u in the right directions. I go with Mrs and baby and I have also been there on boys golf trips!

My guess is u will start off in the brewery pub which is a great big boozer in one of the corners, sky sports, live music etc and prob one of the better bars.

U also have a couple of Irish bars (hole in one) is decent but it's on the furthest part of the marina. But in the opposite direction u have he 19th hole which is where u will prob end up at the end of the night as it's the latest to close and where all stag/golf trips congregate.

There's a casino there and u have pura beach club which is behind the Tivoli hotel.

Private message me if you want any more info.

Don't forget figo's bar with sport but it wasn't as popular this year when I went and also if u want a decent meal "prime steakhouse" is up there with the mayflower. Or a decent old fashioned curry the Mughal Clay
  • much appreciated for all your help guys :) thanks @cabbie8
@Algarveaddick I love a quiz too and so does the stag may have to visit on the sat for a few beers and quiz before we move on

Stayed in Vilamoura for a week before the Gibraltar v Scotland game in October - really nice. The marina is lovely, the pubs/bars round there are a bit overpriced (probably just shy of London prices) but quite lively - definitely worth checking out Figo's bar of you like a bit of football memorabilia.

If you drink in some of the side streets near the marina it's very cheap, we were drinking most days in a pub called click & drink or something and it was about e2 a pint.

My favourite restaurants on Vilamoura Marina are 'Il Lamparo' right along the front and 'Don Alfonso' just behind the marina.

'The Irish Pub' can be great when they have a band night.
  • cheers @stonemuse will get on google check all these out

I'm going to vilamoura for a long weekend early July too with girls. Haven't been since a family holiday in 1996 so assume it's changed quite a bit. I assume we'll be after slightly different tips to the stag do!

Played golf in vilamoura a few times. Nice place. Not too far from albufeira, for a bit of nightlife.
