    Around 12k for Kasey

Wow Kasey's never kicked a competitive ball and he's signing million pound contracts. I doubt he ever gives us a second thought.
  • Mental money for a lad who has never played in a first team, is what 17 and a lot to prove. He left us before signing pro terms. I would not be disappointed if his career fails.
  • The very sad thing is, that it is almost impossible for a young player to break into Chelsea's first team. There is no room for bedding in, and slowly adjusting to life in the PL, you have to hit the ground running, and effectively be better than some of the best players in the world - before you have played a first team game.

Football is so short term now, that managers are unwilling to give young players at clubs like Chelsea a run in the team.

Terry at Chelsea and I can't even recall the last top quality player to come through the ranks at Man City - Micah Richards maybe?

Sturridge never became a first team regular at Chelsea, he's a great example of a player who was good enough but never got enough of a chance there to prove it.

Sturridge started at Coventry poached by Citeh and then moved to chelski and has played a total of about 180 mins of prem football ! Lol

Conversation between Kasey and Joe Gomez.

KP: So Joe, how many millions have you got in the bank.
JG: Well how many Championship and Premier League appearances have you made?

Has he got the contract upside down or is he signing at the top having not read what is underneath?

The bloke next to him looks like he's trying to point out where he should sign...

I wish we were in the Premiership so that our signings could be done in a plush office rather than the corner of a scout hut.

  • Which one is better ? The approach of don't bother with a football shirt son, there's not a lot of chance you be in the first team anytime soon; or the approach of just pop into the office and sign the paperwork and put this shirt on to get used to it because you could be in the team next week...

I just meant Sturridge was a more recent graduate of the Man City academy. He signed at 13 years old from Coventry. Micah Richards joined from Oldham as a 14 year old

It's weird, they're both signing lottery win size contracts and neither can come close to cracking a smile.

What compared to Kasey's erm no appearances for a First Team?

Oh what a silly boy... Would probably be in our First-Team this season now getting proper experience

Not so sure he would want to be experiencing his career going in to sharp reverse with confidence issues like youngsters Fox, Harriott, Pigott and Pope though. Cousins has not progressed at the rate expected of him either although doing ok as is Gomez. Not a great time to be chucked in at the deep end at the moment I'm afraid.

I'd think Joe my possibly be better off with a bank account and appearances. Remember he never asked for a transfer so doesn't that guarantee a 10% stake? He also would have got a big signing on fee at Liverpool and I don't imagine he'll be on less than 15-20K at Liverpool, remember he signed with a lot of interest from other clubs so I think his agent would have negotiated him a decent deal. Just goes to show how staying loyal and gaining first team experience can help massively in the long run. Comparing two other players, Jordan Cousins is currently keeping Poyet out the team where's last time Poyet's ability lead to Riga playing Cousins wide to accommodate Poyet.

Cousins was moved inside by Riga as Jackson was injured, and played alongside Poyet.

Blimey you've quoted me from over a year ago and there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then with even more youngsters careers having been gambled with given the paucity of our squad. Some have impressed and progressed others have struggled with form or to establish themselves resulting in them going out on loan.

Palmer may have broken through here and he would probably have had a chance earlier this season but we'll never know. Life is all about making the right decisions at the right time and hindsight is a wonderful thing. One thing is for sure, whether he gets 1st team game time or not, financially he should be made for life  .

On BT Sport Man. U v Chelsea U21s. Palmer just scored a great free kick. A talented kid - lots of the play going through him. Chelsea leading 0-1.

To go back to the debate..,

Palmer might get a few years of 12k a week before dropping down the leagues for first team football

At Charlton you'll get invaluable first team football. Still earn a good wage and in a few years move on to bigger and better and for longer.

Look at Scott Parker. Prime example of a man with the world at his feet and, whilst he has had a great career he should have won more trophies and caps without a doubt.

People just want the immediate riches without the graft

Good luck to Palmer but shame he took the route he did

He should have stayed with us because we are a great example of how a First Second division club can be run efficiently ,adequatly, under a supportive Manager variety of top notch available European network team coaches, excellent chances of progression to a English Premier, Belgian, Czech team in the future next few weeks when a bill comes in.

Tbf from the 25 mins I watched, he was by far the best player on the pitch. The commentators acknowledged this too against a Utd team with several players with first team experience. I would have thought he's the next one to break through after Loftus Cheek.
  • He scored a couple of goals for the England U20s the other International Break didnt he?
