Henderson got a clap? Maybe you could suggest he comes for a corner next time it lands five yards from him. fox was ok, going forward his crossing left a lot to be desired

Totally agree, Hendo just planted on the line with the ball 5 yards from him. Commit yourself, punch it, catch it, don't just stand there and pick the ball up after it is in the net. Fox had a good game and some of the interplay with Berdich 1st half was brilliant.

Fox, Solly and Harriet made the effort to come over looking utterly dejected.

How many Johnny foreigners or loanees came over????
Only Henderson, its been pointed out in the thread.
Yes only Henderson. I don't think many people read the opening remarks in this thread. It's not about Fox's performance yesterday either.

I was upset that my horses lost but didn't take it out on a random Charlton fan
So you can say 100% you weren't the middle age guy who was calling Solly,Fox and Harriot all the cun#s under the sun when the 3 of them tried to clap the fans. This Guy went Ape Shit and was frothing at the mouth.

Fox senior goes to every game, home and away and it may have been the hair that breaks the camels back, when you hear dogs abuse most games.

I would get in a ruck every game if that happened to my son.

The irony was Fox, Harriott and Solly were 3 players who had good 1st halves.

The free kick by Morgan should only be seen at Twickenham.

Well that was 3 points for sure.

He tried the Ronaldo / Bale technique and even he has a few that end up in row Z. To be fair it's not worse than JBG who consistently hits the wall. Fair play to Fox for having the balls to have a go.
  • Considering we have a free kick 'expert' in JBG who hasn't threatened from one of a number of decent free kick opportunities in the past few games, fair play to Fox for having a go.

I'm one of his highest critics as I do not feel he is good enough at the moment but I will say he has a bit of character about him.

Your right but Before the Free kick, Fox was having a decent game.
I was more surprised that JBG let him take it. why are Johann's free kicks so poor this season compared to last ?

At a professional team, you would stay behind in the a/noon to make sure that you have it off pat, i guess that's the difference between winners and losers.

You're right, Fox had a particularly decent first half to be fair and also shows passion. The sad thing is, there are now so many who bizarrely want him to fail so they can give him dog's abuse, that when he does do well they actually don't have the balls to admit it. Surrounded by them yesterday!!! One fella has even marked him as a 1 in the players post-match marks!!! 1, do me a favour!!! As tough as some people find it (personal pride etc), some really need to start watching the players' performances, match by match, objectively rather than subjectively.

That's probably one of the key things, having been to Sparrows Lane a fair few times this season, and a coach of mine going most weeks, one thing we spoke about was not a single player goes out after training has finished to work on aspects of their game.

Not one is remotely interested in developing their game to become better, that's the difference sometimes. It seems they're happy to pick up their wages and go home, they know the fate of this season, they know most will not be here next season, but no one stays behind to work on their own game, that's what is sad.

I admit I've gave Fox plenty of abuse before, mainly due to his lack of quality and how he manages to be playing every week. But that's not his fault, he may be a lot better in league one, and he doesn't pick the team, cause Roland does that.

As said you can't fault his commitment and never hides, but unfortunately like many of our players, he isn't good enough and I don't believe he ever will be for the championship.

A mixture of two things: The first, the club sold him a dream of promotion at the start of the season and he is rightly peed off. The second, Euro 2016.
  • The father should not be so sensitive and realise football is an emotional game, whilst remembering he is not a favourite of ours.

However, if he'd overheard someone coating his boy in a different environment I would get upset in his shoes.

As an aside, his father works in the building game so he should be used to industrial language!

If I was Morgan Fox's Dad I would be angry with the crap he has to put up with. I don't think he is good enough for the Championship but I think booing him or any other player is counterproductive.

I will not change my view without evidence to the contrary that Fox is simply not up to this level. However, I will acknowledge that he is one of the very few in a red shirt who appears to give a tuppenny fuck at the moment and for that at least I salute him.

M Fox does get dogs abuse, Ive given him pelters in the past.
However I think he is a championship level player, but lacks consistency.
I am very mindful of the enigma that is Simon Francis, lets be honest he was one of the worst players ever to play for us, but look at him now, PL player (deservedly) and a class act.
I reckon in the case of both players that the are confidence footballers, take way their confidence and they melt quicker than Millwall v Man U in the cup final.
Also M Fox got jeered when he was subbed two matches ago at the Valley, and I found that inexcusable by some of our so called supporters.
Finally, I am there as a supporter of our club, I will cheer and if the team play below par I will give them pelters.
I would suggest to any parent/relative of a player that if you dont want to hear negative criticism then dont go to the game, 'cos if I was confronted by a family member for giving my opinion after I had just paid some of their little do no wrongs wages, then they can do one.
Fair play to the OP for keeping his cool.

Whilst Fox's dad is no doubt in the wrong for starting an argument, I don't think you can blame him too much for being protective unless he went OTT. Morgan Fox is still young and clearly gives it his all and cares... he's just not very good.

It would be hard hearing his son get that much stick from his our own fans, I'd be pretty bitter about it - and even worse if it's not far from the truth (although if he's like the majority of parents he won't see that!).

I actually really like fox, never puts any less than 100% in and is more than good enough to play for us. Still very young remember especially in defence you get found out quite easily. There's no denying that he makes a few clangers but that's to be expected and is lamented 10x more by fans because of the reputation he has.
As for the free kick it might not have been the best call at the time but I've seen him practising free kicks a few times in the past, I remember at Portsmouth away (pre-season) in the warm up towards the end he hit a few and they were crackers. Has a very strange technique which I'm guessing he's nicked from Bale to an extent, have a lot of respect to him for having a go knowing that failure would result in abuse. Keep off his back and let him play, much better than some of the other dross we have.

No, he's lamented for woeful distribution and lack of defensive nous.

That said, no players should be booed during a match and he does, without doubt, try his best in every game.

So we should all think highly of him because he hit a few hefty warm up shots down at Pompey last pre-season?

    Give over.

I saw Morgan meet his family outside the ground. They hugged, said hello and so on. Then Morgan said something like "let's not stand around here..."

I don't abuse players, ever. Not since a young version of me joined in the Kim Grant booing. And when I saw him, looking down and sad, with his loved ones looking equally sad, I had nothing but pure sympathy for him. In that moment it felt heartbreaking. The abuse he gets is so unwarranted that it barely even requires me to say it.

I think he's out of his depth, sure, but we should be helping him improve. Not venting our spleens at him for literally no good reason. It must be so hard for his dad to deal with too, I'm not surprised he's given some back.

Agree with all this Green- apart from Fox being a Champ footballer. He is league 1 at best and nothing I've seen has changed that.

Fair play BB, I said the same about Fox last season, but I also said the same about Simon Francis, so that experience has taught me that sometimes I get it wrong and am not always right about a player.
