SKY presenter Scott Minto: I'm saddened at Charlton Athletic's situation
Scott Minto still has huge affection for former club Charlton - and is hoping they can rebuild in League One next season.
The 44-year-old is set to front Sky Sports’ TV coverage of Sunday’s match against Middlesbrough. Addicks fans, angry at owner Roland Duchatelet and chief executive Katrien Meire, will use it as a highly public platform to air their burning displeasure.

Yet another good Charlton player that was sold to The west London scum.2
-
Met him at the Valencia away pre-season game.
Very nice fella on top of being a very good footballer.1 -
Played for Orpington Rovers...remembered meeting him as a 10 year old at an Orpington Rover's awards do and asking why he was leaving/had left us for Chelsea. He smiled politely at my naivety and I learned the numerous reasons why over the following 25 years!
Quality player1 -
I recall there were a few heartbroken female fans when he leftRodneyCharltonTrotta said:Played for Orpington Rovers...remembered meeting him as a 10 year old at an Orpington Rover's awards do and asking why he was leaving/had left us for Chelsea. I hope it wasn't too embarrassing, though it's amazing what can be done these days on the NHS....soapboxsam said:Rodney had a crystal ball.

Surely it would have been the fact that you were a retail giant - in Grove Park terms anyway.i_b_b_o_r_g said:Met him a few times through mutual friends down Lardy Dars back in the day, I think he was mainly impressed with my sense of humour first and foremostly

Met him in Zens years ago with his missus and Stuart Balmer. Nice fella. Even nicer missus!1

Used to know some of his family, his cousin Nicky was on our books as a youngster. Top bloke.0

Recently had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife, but unfortunately it was work related, so couldn't speak to him about us.
I did get a chance to speak to his wife and she said that charlton are his "Fairytale" club and that he loved Charlton0 -
My first charltonlif hero was gutted when he left. I loved that team of 93/94 season.2

Early last year I had a quick chat with Scott down in Locksbottom.
He said Charlton would always be his first love and that he was sad at the way the club was being run.
He mentioned the name of a reasonably high profile Spanish coach (ex Barcelona assistant ?) who would have been delighted at an approach from Charlton, since he was huge admirer of the club.
Bit of a non-story, as I can't remember the guy's name. I just thought it was interesting that, even given our struggles, we really could attract a European coach of substance, as opposed to the dross that is actually foisted upon us.4 -
My mate nicked Minto's bird off him as a teenager...sadly for my mate she ran back to Scotty Minto soon after. Fortunately for my mate she then realised he was the better man and dumped Minto for him again...sadly for my mate she then got back with Scott Minto... This went on about 4 times each I reckon...oh those teenage years!5

That reminds me of the one-twos between Minto and Colin Walsh as they attacked down the left wing...Athletico Charlton said:My mate nicked Minto's bird off him as a teenager...sadly for my mate she ran back to Scotty Minto soon after. All these scott minto stories. I chased him down Welling High St once for his autograph.
All these @i_b_b_o_r_g stories. he chased me out of his shop once for trying to steal a porno4 -
“But it is not just an on-the-field problem - it is off it as well.
“There are some things the fans don’t know about - but the club need to listen to the fans."

I wouldn't read too much into that comment mate, there's a lot us mere mortals won't know about, I'd interperate that as just a general observation by him.Gillis said:“But it is not just an on-the-field problem - it is off it as well.

A nice summary from Minto and good that he's aware of what's going on. One of my favourite players growing up.0
