We were voted the worst run club in Europe on some sports site I read about 2 months back. Blackpool ranked 3rd from memory.1

Attendance is second from bottom. But yeah ticket sales and season ticket sales would also be a good indicator.Stig said:

There are a lot of moderately badly run clubs. But we are definitely top 3 and I think Duchatelet's rant this week has probably topped the Oystons. Orient's owner is "in the refuse disposal business in the greater Naples area" or something similar and makes Cellino look like an upright businessman. But he appoints coaches with English experience. Blackpool are shockingly run and are our only serious rivals for the Mad Owners Cup. Cellino does at least have some experience in football so Leeds are third. And frankly, Vincent Tan looks like a model owner. If only he'd bought a club who already play in red...0

This thread title reminds of the Fawlty Towers episode, the Waldorf salad one I think, when the American guest states 'What I'm suggesting is that this place is the... the crummiest, shoddiest, worst-run hotel in the whole of Western Europe.' Seems fair to use that analogy with the Charlton of today. We seem to have something of a Basil Fawlty in charge anyway! (abusive to customers)
In fact, I thought I’d offer up a short verse in prose of Roly, to summarise how the message contained in ‘that statement’ has been received by his customers:-

If you want to build flats at the ground to sell at massive profits how do you treat the fans. Once you have driven them away bingo it becomes home and hosed we are not being alienated for nothing.0

Although through alienation many fans will not be funding the Club by attending, I don't think dissatisfied supporters will simply lose all interest in developments at the Club and disappear. We will, I'm sure, unite in opposition, as has been done before in fighting to secure a return to the Valley, and as now in attempting to secure a regime change. CARD and other supporter groups would play every trick in the book to prevent it and will, no doubt, have people on board with the particular skill set in Town Planning matters to advise tactics.
In other words, the owner will be funding operatimg losses for many years to come before, and if, he is ever able to realise any revenue streams from Flats on The Valley. Remind me how old he is he now?
I don't think that is his end game. He might try to nibble away at bits of it as you describe though, the Jimmy Seed stand being the most likely first target area. CARD and others be on your guard!!0 -
Thanks for your answer. Maybe 10 years from now this will be more prevalent with clubs owned by supporters (like in Germany) and Portsmouth will be well equipped with a few years of experience behind them. Portsmouth back in the prem in 2026. Where will we be?se9addick said:

No question, the gross mismanagement of the club during the past 2 years has been truly breathtaking.
But, for me, the clincher is the utter contempt with which these people have treated the fans during their tenure.

I think it's fairly accurate too, I would've said that Blackpool were easily the worst in England until around December when Roland came in strong and nailed it.0
