Good stuff. Will be a change to hear someone other than poor old Terry have to tell us, " corner comes in...free header...".
  • Torture for those Addicks that don't go and will have to listen to the charlton fans roaring the team on to victory and wishing that they too had made the short trip to Loftus road

Great, so instead of relatively informative commentary we'll have a load of waffle on nothing to do with what's going on in the game, but on the selection of pies and what sandwiches the press box have, and whether or not hoops are 'in fashion' or who has the flashiest boots on.

This absolutely. I speak unscientifically but as someone who usually listens to the other teams coverage. Some are unbelievably the absolute worst ever like Hull, but others, like Cardiff, Reading and Brentford do a proper job. By proper job it means telling the sightless what's occouring.
Even our people at Ipswich failed in crucial things that weren't obvious to the listener.
Like the ball out of play. I want to know straight away if it is a throw or a corner or a goal kick, and to who. There were too many times on Tuesday where our guys simply left us guessing.
If it is Emma today don't expect a description, and if Jamie Reid he is the worst because he actually glories in the notion of not describing play because he is supposedly a 'character' who adds 'colour' that 'the listeners like'..
Mind you the world champion of chite commentators is Alan 'penalty air' Green who makes me want to smash something up when he's on.

On the other hand if it is Jamie Hill, or the boss Phil Parry, then it is as good as it gets on radio.

I got the BBC London digital coverage via QPR player and it was very poor.

No coverage at all as Im overseas...the BBC does seem to be archaic at times.

That's a shame, maybe drop them an email asking if they could provide a service for overseas listeners.
